Has anyone seen the new 2006 Infiniti M...

I like it a lot -- Its definatly a nicer, more expensive version of the G35. Since the old M didnt sell at all I guess they decided to change it to resemble the g35 which is selling like crazy

Had I had the capabilities, I would have purchased the previous generation M45. Needless to say, I'm over this one........it WILL be my next car

I went to the Infiniti dealership in my town ... across the street from the Benz/BMW dealership. The new M-series is the sh*t! Looks solid ... built in Japan (aka JDM Maxima) ... I think this car is so much nicer looking than the new GS (and better priced!)

I would argue that this new M-series is superior its competitors in its class. (I'm sure you all have read the reviews in C&D, etc...)

the m45/35 is not the jdm maxima.

the m45/35 is the fuga in japan.

I'm sorry but i don't like it.
I don't like the current Maxima. The rear end looks too much like the current Maxima's
however I like the next gen BMW 3 series(the e90 )

superior than a the next gen M3 or Benz C55 AMG. those two are way above this "M class." grant it you will pay more but those two would kill a M45 at a stright line race, fit and finish, resale value, and service after the sale. plus the mods offered for the M3 and AMG is greater

The M45 competes against the 525/530/545 and the E350/E500, not the M3 or C55. Totally different class of cars.

The new GS is very nice, but I sat and drove in the new A6 and I feel the Infiniti is far ahead of that car.

In snob appeal. Audi and Lexus still has more brand equity among luxury car buyers. If you like to drive, the M45 will own those two

Dealers in Michigan and Ohio seem to have 1 or 2 M's on the lot each now. It'll take a while if you actually want to buy one to your liking.

Not a bad deal, IMHO.

To each his own but the new M45 can more than compete with those two. And I wouldnt give Audi much weight given their QC issues; that thing is shop time waiting to happen. (I just finished checking out an 05 S4 at an Audi dealership that already had some heavy headlight condensation. )

I'm sure the GS will be rock solid though.

My dad's Audi has been trouble-free. The only problem he ever had was the chrome trim staining when the dealer washed it. They had to replace all the chrome(plastic) trim on the car. I personally wouldn't buy another Nissan product and that includes Infiniti. Talk about poor quality and customer service.

That is too bad you had such trouble with Nissan. My Infiniti dealership has been awesome. I get loaners for oil changes On average, Infiniti has the best customer service of any auto manufacturer by most objective measures. Its too bad you've had bad customer service from yours. BTW, my G35 coupe has had 3 things go wrong...window motor (TSB), sunroof creak (TSB), slight pull to right (TSB). I had all things fixed within the first 5000 miles and nothing since then but pleasurable ownership experience. I don't have any rattles and the VQ motor pulls strongly all the way to 140 (I love torque). I would be confident in another Infiniti product and highly recommend it to anybody.

I personally wouldn't buy an Infiniti. The customer service might be better, but at the end of the day you are still dealing with Nissan. Infiniti's are made using some shared parts from Nissans, which I found out are of poor quality and unreliable.

I respect your opinion. You have had your experiences that warrant your decisions. I had 5 Toyotas, 2 Nissans, and a Honda. So far, my Nissans were the most reliable and enjoyable products. My Honda has good reliability but rattles like a childs play toy. The Toyotas were great appliances.

My experience with Nissan was so bad I went out and bought a Ford. My 05 GT was made yesterday and should be here in a week or two

Thats a great car. I'm glad Ford finally did something right I hope you don't have too many first year bugs. Lately, Fords quality has been in the crapper (recalls recalls recalls). Hopefully, they've built this mustang right.

Outside of a MAF sensor and a bad HU (a non-Bose unit which I dont believe Nissan actually builds), I've had NO other problems with my 3 y/o 02 Maxima (35k). Not even a rattle.

At 35k, my 99 Accord was on the way towards losing its first tranny in addition to already having had a defective strut assembly replaced.

But I will attest to the fact than Nissan dealer service is P I T I F U L!!!! However, most folks state the opposite for Infiniti dealer service.

Sorry for the , back to the topic at hand.

I can honestly write a thesis on the problems I had with my 00 Maxima.

-Bad Transmission x2. Replaced the diff 3 times
-Bad MAF: Common problem
-Bad Igntion coils: Common problem
-Warped Rotors numerous times: Common Problem(TSB)
-Rattling rear deck: Common Problem(TSB, but didn't fix the problem)
-Broken Variable Intake(I feel a very common problem)
-Lazy tachometer which read 1000 rpms slow
-Paint chips/Rust
-A/C comperessor clutch...Seized and was making noise
-Interior rattles when new

I can go on and on if I went thru my service records. My car was in the shop a lot of time under warranty. Nissan Customer service should change their name because they don't serve the customer.

My parents have a 99 Maxima and haven't had a single problem. It has never been to the dealer once (my father handles all maintenance) and is by far the most reliable car they have ever owned.

My Z hasn't been as trouble free, but its no worse than my CL

i LOVE my infiniti dealer... they gave me G35/FX35 as loaner cars every time i go there and the best part is I DONT EVEN HAVE TO REFILL THE GAS!!!

i dont know much about nissan dealers but My acura dealer gave me enterprise focus with manual window ? when i bought a sub 30k vehicle from them. and my toyota dealer didnt even give me a loaner car...

_____________

back to topic

M35/45 is hot but i wouldnt buy it... well not for another 10 years.

just because M35/45 uses M.. doesnt mean it is competing with m3/m5....

Thanks for getting back to the topic at hand, my question was just based on the technology, that Infiniti is calling its new car "M" while BMW has the rights to the "M" technology???? And the car is geared to compete agains BMW..and others in their respective class...

but in the end, it is a nice car, but still far being what BMW is...

The infiniti M did exist before this 06 model you know. Its never been an issue with infiniti using the M designation.

The Infiniti M more then competes with the 5 series. And the M series is just the name of which BMW calls their in house high performance cars, BMW doesn't have the rights to the letter "M" by itself.

Yeah, I don't think you can patent or copyright letters of the alphabet.

...actually, a friend of mine said he recently read somewhere that Mercedes Benz has some kind of right... to where... nobody can have 3 numbers and 3 letters combo... like CLK 500 or CLS 500... but I don't know if that's true.
