This guy said at 7:07 shut engine and downshift in such situation. I guess because even if the engine is shut off it is still rotating and it allows for downshifting. What Ziners think about this?

 

My only concern is if I buy brand new front tires for my Acura tl 2003 type S will not have peace from chicks.

 

I've just read the description and didn't watch the video, but it says that throttle was stuck and guy just slammed on the brakes, which quickly overheated.

It that case (probably impossible on TL) shift to neutral. If engine races kill the ignition. Although with engine off you lose power steering and power brake assist.

Downshifting doesn't really help much on automatic, and with engine off automatic will always be on neutral.
But downshifting doesn't do anything if your throttle is stuck open.

 

At 16:00 he talks about rpm stall converter. Obviously, converters disconnect at some rpm.
