Need some advice on my truck purchase...

Ok, I'll make this short...

I found an Avalanche I want... the best part is... it only has 6600 miles on it! The dealer showed me the original sticker (I matched the vins to verify) and it was $36,782!!!

2004 Z66 Red, w/o body armor.
Power everything, cd changer, etc....

They are asking $24,995.

kbb.com shows about $28,XXX retail & $25000 private party.

What should I offer them (out the door, tax, tag, title, etc all included) ???

I was thinking about $23000... you think they will go for it? too much, too less ??

Need some opinions! Spanks, Chris.

if u get that price, it be a great buy.......23,500 ask and be firm; if they're serious, they'd sell it for that much...... wait a minute, is it from a dealer??

Yes, I did... and I actually liked it! The interior is very modern looking. I'm glad that I went & looked at them, and I seriously thought about buying one.. but, I am still a SUV type person, although I need a truck for work... I guess the avalanche just falls in between the two...

Dealer... I wanted to buy from a private seller.. but, I found this one w/ only 6600 miles, and fell in love with it.

They look almost just like the EXT once the molding is painted.

23 doesn't sound like an outrageous offer. Especially with gas prices the way they are. Lots of people are dumping the big truck/suv's and opting for midsize, so there are alot of used gas guzzlers out there.

Some truck buyers just won't go for the ridgeline...

Chris has a lawn maintenance business, so he needs a "real" truck

a real truck? uhhh, hmmmm... avalanche, ridgeline, avalanche, ridgeline, the avalanche will break down n devaluate like whoa, the ridgeline will have Honda dependability AND will keep its value better just like Hondas ALWAYS do. yeah it'll b more expensive, but it's obviously the more intelligent choice. just my

Wasn't the transmission on Honda trucks the reason for the recall of the automagic transmissions? The ridgeline has not been proven to handle towing and other things like trucks that have been around for years.

As mentioned the 23-23.5k offer should probably work, especially with the gas prices, insurance, and need to sell these things.

Well, I offered them $23000 & they said no way... they countered with $27XXX after taxes and all that bullshit... so, I even offered $24000 out the door & this was there response...

"We might be able to take $200 off of our offer, but that is it."

My response... "Welp, see you later..."

and I left.

Stop talking right now. First you metnion a first MY vehicle for a work truck, something I would never do with an unproven vehicle, then you suggest a luxury truck for a work truck?? I'm sorry but I would be a little annoyed if my gardner showed up in a Escalade. The guy that does the lawn at my parents house comes up in F350 pickups and a box truck.

I say go for the Titan. They get rave reviews, and can tow quite a bit. Plus they should be more reliable than most American trucks.

Chris, I'm sure they will call you back with another offer. If they don't go to $24K, you may want to go up tp $24.5K. I still think it a pretty good deal though. I think you'll really like that truck too. There's a reason it got motor trend's truck of the year when it came out. You can't go wrong with a chevy truck.

I'll post some pics of my navi soon... Sure, I can go buy an EXT, but that defeats the purpose... I want to get AWAY from a luxury SUV, and get into something more practical for my business... If I wanted a luxury SUV I would keep my Navigator...

You should be able to get it for $24K. My neighbor just bought a new fully loaded one for around $29K. They always have $4000 rebates and all kinds of other deals. They just can't move them things around here.

I got a 02 Tundra 4x4 regular cab with a V-8 SR5 it's deep red. the reason why I got regular cab is I use the bed more than I would the interior space. only 2 "Mods" I did to it was i put a bed mat over the bedliner(to keep from things pokeing through the liner)(i use this truck in a mowing business and to haul misc things like snowmobiles, motorcyles, help people move, etc). and I put a Black diamond plate Dee-Zee box on it(cost me about 300 bucks installed(if you haul a lot of tools it's an great investment and well worth it)

I used to have a 95 Dodge 1/2 ton 4x4 longbox with a 318(v-8): wanna talk about a POS. 7 transmissions in 6 years. I found out later they put car transmissions in their shitty dodges. so the Tundra 100 times better. the shift is smoother. the engine smooth. the quality is a lot more solid than the dodge. the seats and interior just feel better. plus the mileage is a lot better. with the dodge it was around 15. with the Tundra i've gotten anywhere from 20 mpg down to 13 mpg (like i did today)(and that was on interstate )

Now my only complaint about the whole truck. we live in rural community. for example my driveway gravel. plus some roads have gravel on em after "stone and chip process" so gravel kicks up on the side. their paint chips away REAL EASY. In a year or 2 i'm gonna have to repaint that truck. I've brought this to attention of the Toyota dealer i bought it from new all they wanted to do is use "touch-up paint" which will chip off in another 2-3 months . I've asked other toyota owners that live if they have the similar problem they say "yeah". they need "soft chip" paint.

BTW: you guys think it's bad to fill up your Acuras. try 26 gallons today at 2.15 a gallon . that comes out to about 56 bucks (yeah i only had like one gallon left in the tank)
