okay one of my homeboys is getting the "itch" to build a project car. he has a Mustang Cobra with a good amount of bolt ons he's looking to sell.(long story he basically hates it)
anyhow: He wants a fun car new or used, it will be track car 50% of the time and road 50% of the time. so it has to be street legal.
has to produce about 500 crank hp. (so either a healthy V-8 or boosted v-6)
he likes to drift and also he'll drag it.
40-50k budget limit with mods.
last requirement no Ford products.(the local Ford dealer was giving shit about his Mustang as far as getting parts in for it cause he didn't buy it there. when he'd order parts for it they'd say it would be in on lets say thursday. he'd go there on thurs. and they'd say we never order it. he had already paid for it in full. have reciept with them. he talked with the service manager and he said i'm not doing shit for you you didn't buy it here so either wait for it or don't buy it here.
bottom line: Ford's customer service was bullshit.

 

Camaro's are actually faster then Corvettes if you drop the 5.7 liter corvette engine in one.

If it were me I would build an MG midget or MG C, you can buy all the parts new up to and including the frame, but those are not racing cars.

 

Shelby Cobra replica kit. I know it's ford, but sweet car, and the kit is only 12k + donor mustang, can be built easily for 20k, if you want the performance route drop in a crate motor and for 30K you have met all your requirements.
