Need new tires?

Believe it or not, I've never actually had to replace tires on a car. That goes to show you how often I've turned cars over the years.

Ok, so sorry for the shitty pictures. A few months ago when the Murano was in for routine service, they mentioned I'd likely need new shoes by winter. The tires Nissan put on the Murano are terrible and I don't think the dealer's assessment is wrong. The stock tires are Goodyear Eagle LS and are just crossing 34K miles with rotations every 7500 miles.

Can you all get a sense if the following validates their recommendation? I suppose I could take it to a tire shop, but I'm sure they'll tell me I need them. I think I need new tires, but figured I'd waste bandwidth and ask.

What are you planning on putting on there?

Phew, thought you got rid of the 335i.

Cant tell by the pics but with the mileage i'd say its time to replace them. Better safe than sorry, especially with snow.

You can't see wires, they're just fine!

The General Exclaim UHP's are worth considering.

I had some Kuhmo's on my TL. Had no problems. Also check out Falken.

Well, the bigger question is this: Do you need winter only rubber and then a set of summers? Makes a difference if you live with snow.

If you're compromising and getting an all season tire, I have Goodyear Eagle F1 A/SC's, and they are pretty good in wet weather, and nice grip in the dry. Almost as good as my old Bridgestone RE050A's, but those were summer only.

I don't need winter tires. We get a ton of snow a year, lived here all my life and never had issues. Helps when you grow up in the area and learn how to drive in snow.

I use Yoko Avid TRZ's on my cars, love them. They're great in dry and wet conditions, they handle well in snow.

Yea, but they do make all the difference in the world. I have so many people around here say the same thing till they drive my car with them, they shortly after that run out and get dedicated snow tires.

Both you have selected are good tires, I put this tire on my wifes expedition and they are a Great snow, rain, dry weather tire. We had a few ice storms last winter and she never complained.

for the money the solus are great. I have the h4s on my es300 right now. I drive the car pretty quick and the tires should last about 40k. Even with 20-25k on them, they are still quiet. they are rotated every 5-7k and i always check the pressure.

I always felt like i was being cheap for buying the solus, but for the money, they're great also.

with the mileage on the h4s that i am at right now, i do find myself slowing down for turns since they are alittle worn, but i can still go 80mph in the rain.

My buddy has the KR21's on his Lexus ES and they have been great according to him. The have a great treadlife warranty and are very comfortable but are not a performance tire at all.

My dad drove my car with snows on last winter and this was the first time he's ever gotten snow tires. They're sitting in the garage right now waiting to be mounted. Once you drive on snows, it completely changes your views.

I know they make a difference. When I had my G35, I had a dedicated set of winter rims/tires. The car performed great.

But for an AWD SUV? meh

What....this isn't one of those "My Floor Mats Were Dirty So I Got A $50K Car" threads?

I have these on my Pathfinder. I heard mixed reviews on them. I have had them for a year + now and so far I think they are pretty good. We get less snow than you may get, but overall traction is good and the comfort when driving is better than I expected.

The forteras were recommended by another tire shop, but I'd be looking at about $850ish installed versus $500ish for the Kumhos. $350 buys me a lot of beer.

It's the stopping that they make the most difference, keep that in mind.

I put Fuzion ZRi's on my daily, and after 20k miles they seem to have held up pretty well. They were an unknown brand to me, but my cousin recommended them and got me a great deal. TireRack considers them "Ultra High Performance", but the tread pattern looks like any other all season radial. They're pretty quiet, look nice and grip well on dry roads. I have a little problem with hydroplaning, but it's no worse than the Bridgestone's I had previously. I've yet to see what they're like in the snow.

It's worth a look. I've been waiting to find something to complain about. So far they've treated me well.

I liked the look of the forteras, but they are real expensive, plus I've read quite a few reviews about them not living up to their mileage rating. I just got a set of cooper discoverers for the wifes 09 Tribeca from treaddepot.com, they were on sale for $86 each, plus I found a coupon code for $25. Another good one for the money is the Firestone Destinations. Both look to be good all weather tires, actually let you stop and turn in the snow, in my opinion I think its a waste to have awd and not have tires to put it to good use.

Got the Kumhos today. The OEMs were down to 3/32, so it was time

$600 installed.

Great choice. Give us a review after they have worn a bit. My aunt needs tires on her Matrix, so I recommended the KR21's to her. Great tire for the money.
