Need help with selling through Pirvate Party!

Alright.

I received a call by a gentlemen from Nebraska. Hes saying that he totaled his acura and wants to buy my NSX. Just asked if its in mechincally sound shape and that it had no accidents.

Told me his bank would call me so he could get approved for the loan. The bank calls and records me saying that the car is in good shape and never been in an accident.

Heres the thing. The bank wants me to call their transporter to come pick up the car. Once the driver checks the car to see if its in good shape, they will transfer me my asking price to MY bank. Yet i have a small loan on the car through my credit union which they know about. Just told me once i get the funds from their check to pay off my loan and send them the title.

Now what do i do to protect myself in this case? I just feel like this is being too easy of a sale and i should have my guard up.

What should i ask from the bank so i dont get screwed here? The bank is rather small, i googled them after the phone call. http://www.heartlandcb.com

I skurred.

Just went to the banks site and this popped up...

Warning!!! Recently a Secret Shopper Scam has been perpetrated against an auto transport business customer of Heartland Community Bank. The scam originates from Canada and promises significant rewards to customers that agree to cash checks drawn on our customer's account. So far, these checks have been written in the amount of $3992.28 (dated 1-22-09), $3936.00 (dated 1-28-09), and $4,495.30 (dated 3-04-09). The checks are bogus and will be returned if they are presented for payment. Contact our Bennet facility at 402-782-3500 if you have questions about this fraudulent activity. Don’t be a victim of this scam!
Remember the old saying: "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".

So confused.

At my dealership we wait until the wire transfer has gone through and give it 10 days because it can be reversed. If, after 10 days, the money is still there, then we release the car.

Caveat venditor!

Run away

Seriously. It's not worth it. You'll find another buyer so it's not even worth the risk.

No money up front (and cleared) before they take the car... no sale.

Yea my guard went up when the bank called to tell me how excited the buyer is about buying the car. I mean what loan officer would say that?

Sigh.

Well, at least you figured it out before it was too late.

Personally, I'll never sell any vehicle unless the cash is in my hands or the money is in the bank and cleared. Otherwise, car & title stay in my possession.

And per your request...
