Nav Map Orientation?

Just curious which way everybody has theirs set. I've got the RL on north up and the portable GPS for the Santa Fe is set this way, too. Mom's Lexus is set to heading up.

North. I hate when the map will rotate as I turn especially when it lags.

I hate having to figure out which direction I'm driving when looking at the static display.

Heading up when I'm actually using the navigation. But if I'm looking at traffic information, heading north because I don't like looking at upside down maps.

I always use bird-view in the G and it can only be in heading-up....

Locked north/south, I hate when it rotates. I can wrap my head around what is ahead and translate it to what's on the map (and vice-versa) just fine, thanks.

I'm oriented with direction of travel. And I get to read all the lovely kanji, and see graphics for A&W restaurants.

When I had my TSX and A4, I had the nav set at north up. With the 335i and S4 now, since both have the 3D perspective views, and the orientation is heading up only, that is what I'm using now.

What do you think of that. I tried it out before, not really a fan. The top down look is a lot nicer when you are trying to figure out directions.

i prefer heading up regardless of direction. it gets too confusing when i'm turning left while on the nav screen, i'm turning right or approaching an intersection up ahead but on the screen, it's going downward.

I used to not like it but it has grown on me. The G can do both map view and bird view so whenever I get tired of one I can switch to the other....

North up, I'm kind of weird in that I almost always know where north is. Even in a building at night

North up.

Maybe it's from working in mapping and GIS, but I can't stand when maps aren't oriented North up. The only exception to this is when I set my G's Nav to 3D/bird's eye, which I only do once in a blue moon.

Has to be heading up for me. I can't see it any other way, especially while driving in congested tight city streets with a grid layout. Must be a left brain/right brain thing

Heading up for 2D. 3D is fixed on heading up as far as I know. For long highway trips, I ocassionally use north up.

I've always believed that if more people got their North/South bearings figured out, people wouldn't get lost as often.

Sadly, my parents get lost even with the navigation system. The tools are only as good as the developers that make them. What's funny is my Dad bitched about his nav system not being accurate to which I asked him when did he update it. He responded with never. So when he did update it, what did he do? Still bitch that it wasn't accurate. I don't think people understand that navigation systems will never be fool proof, you have to think on your own every once in a while to figure out where you need to go.

Direction of travel, 3D (birdseye) mode.
They finally integrated Waze into AndroidAuto, but the zoom logic sucks, so I haven't been using it much. It zooms out too far on minor streets, to the point that they drop off of the display. Also, there is no provision for manually entering an address, and voice command doesn't work; you're stuck with home/work, gas stations & phone saved favorites.
