Looks like fun! First thing I'd do is a JDM front end.

My buddy Chris also has an '00 Pheonix Yellow Type-R.

He's got some mods on it already, but more importantly, his Jackson Racing supercharger is on its way in the mail. Lots of potential in the B18C5. Good luck with your project, and keep us updated!!

P.S. If you don't have one yet, I would recommend getting a high-tech security system for it perhaps even a tracking device, since the Type-R is one of the most-stolen vehicles in the U.S.

those don't look like OEM JDM headers, they look like the could passibly be DC sports JDM headers

I think the pheonix yellow fits the Type R. keep the color (imo), add a JDM Type R conversion, get some JDM (Work, Mugen, Gab Sports, Spoon, etc.) rims and that shit will look sick. And the motor, dont even get me started, you can go crazy with the B18C5 Used to own a 4dr. Gs-R before the CL-S so I know a bit about Japanese Honda Motors. And the suspension, well, depends on what you want to use the car for, cause that has plenty of options as well. All in all its got so much potential and a fun ass car to drive, enjoy!!

I like the car, strip it and take the radio out. I had a GS-R for a week then it got stolen, so there went that project, oh well

You should get it man! I have an R and to tell you the truth, although it feels slower than a CL-S 6-speed, its definitely exponentially more fun!! The only car that has given me as much a thrill was a 350z and I've driven BPU+ Supras and STi's! The R has the tossability factor; very well balanced. As far as mods go, there are a ton!! I personally will go to the turbo route! There are many people with 300 whp R's that have a hard time finding traction! If you want to know more, just check out www.honda-tech.com. As far as the turbo kit goes, there's a company called full-race that make amazing kits made for the car! Good luck and if you have any questions PM me!

i raced one of those a few weeks ago with my 3,700 lbs A6 and i beat it....the guy followed me to a gas station....he had a Jackson turbo on it....how the hell did he lose? are those cars really not that fast or did he just suck at driving it? because my A6 is (drivetrain wise) completely stock and as far as i can tell, i shouldnt be able to walk away from a turbo'ed ITR

nice try, but there is no Jackson turbo, it'd be an S/C

and type R's aren't made for straight line speed, it's on the track they excel

youre right, it obviously had to be a S/C, i dont really remember, it was about 3 weeks ago, i didnt even ask to see it under the hood, all i remember is that it was jackson something or other. but either way, the guy was pissed that he lost. and i really didnt care one way or the other because i never liked the ITR anyway and the kid was a rice boy who i didnt even want to really talk to

because I'm sure a relatively stock CLS6 would beat you convincingly and I would think a SCed ITR would beat a CLS6 in a straight line.

but the ITR is not that slow to begin with (I thought it was mid to low 15s stock).

stock CL-S will definately not take a 2.7T A6. a CL-S with headers and/or intake will, however, take a 2.7T A6. based on my experience alone with a CL-S, i know this to be true. pre-headers, my CL-S ran 14.8....my A6 can do that stock. post headers the CL-S ran 14.39.....thats definately going to take my A6.

i could have sworn the cl-s stock was a SMIDGE quicker than the 2.7t? If anything they should be dead even, not having the 2.7t winning? Or so I've seen this somewhere.

stock vs. stock, they are VERY close indeed. it comes down to driver ability, weather conditions, etc. as far as launching, the A6 has the clear advantage with the AWD. but it is about 200 lbs heavier than the CL-S...sooooo, it can vary. im just saying in my personal experience, having owned both.

Maybe a 6-speed but the stock autos are not that fast (don't you have a stock auto?). I've been to track days with audis before and let me say that when I was stock I was in the middle of the pack as far as A6s and S4s that were stock (these are auto and sticks). I will agree with you that the particular day I went with the NE audi club it was hot and humid. I know that these force-fed engines react more to weather conditions but I'm just telling how it is/was. A stock 2.7t auto IS not faster than an auto stock CLS. I would garner that the CLS is indeed faster by a smigen, but more likely neck and neck.

Oh and auto A6 will not have much of an advantage off a launch. Its not like you can launch it at a high RPM anyway.

bring a stock CL-S automatic to a drag strip on a nice cold october afternoon to a dragstrip up here and ill bring my stock, automatic A6 and there is no questoin, the A6 will beat it. ive owned both cars and ive been to the track with both cars. the fact of the matter is, it would be very very close in either direction, im sure if you line the 2 up, and do 10 runs, each one would win 5 times. stock vs stock, it really is that close.

you are absolutely right about the weather though, a day like today, its about 80 here and sickeningly humid, my twin turbos HATE this crap, its significantly and noticably slower than on a 45 degree dry day in fall

my freind owns a A6 2.7t i beat him by a good margin from a roll, and beat him after 85 from a stop. I think the cl is faster from magazine stats and my personal experience.
