My "new" pride and joy!
My "new" pride and joy!
Long story short, I've admired the E30 M3 for many years, and I've lusted after this particular car since my friend completed the restoration and let me drive it last year.
Today, I am the new owner...

Thanks everyone!
Now that that's out of the way...
When I bought the red 325is from my friend last year, he had just completed the restoration of this car. He used nothing but the finest, factory original parts to bring this car to it's current state. He let me drive the M3 in the Hollywood Hills and I can't begin to describe how tight this car is. The handling is subline, with no body flex, solid steering with perfect feel, and a slightly notchy shifter. The engine is classic M3 (actually, very "Honda-like") in that it has average TQ down low, but power rises dramatically as revs climb (even modern M3's are like this). Around a track, I'd say it would be a smidge quicker than an S2000 (and is dynamically similar too). Speaking of which, I do plan on driving this car at HPDE's and driving schools - it'll be weird looking out the same view as my 325, but experiencing significantly higher limits. I can't wait to get it (he's bringing it up in 3 weeks)!
Here are the specs from my friend's e-bay add:
"This car is truly mint and needs absolutely nothing. I purchased this car and completed an entire comprehensive ground-up restoration to BMW EVOIII specs. For those of you that don’t know, the EVOIII was a rare European version of the E30 M3 with a 2.5 liter engine and 240HP. ONLY Genuine Factory BMW parts were used for this restoration/update. I began with a very straight, original panel (all VIN stickers match) car. The car has never been in an accident to my knowledge which CARFAX confirms. Nearly all of the below details have been finished within the last year (2005).
BODY/CHASSIS:
* Original straight car with original body panels and NO RUST OR ACCIDENTS.
* 184K miles on body (though virtually most everything on the car is new or rebuilt)
* The car received a very expensive glass-out repaint in the original Diamond Schwartz (very dark metallic grey) using original German paint. Car was stripped to original factory primer before painted.
* New factory windshield and seals
* All trim (around door frames) refinished
* Rebuilt door locks
* Bilstein Sport Shocks and Eibach springs front and rear
* Eibach Front Strut Brace
* Factory 17" BMW Style 5 Alloy Wheels with nearly new tires
* New Factory Antenna – very hard to find
* A/C converted to new style R134 freon and works perfectly
ENGINE
* Engine rebuilt to Factory BMW EVOIII specs using all (very expensive) BMW factory parts. Work was performed by noted E30 M3 experts at South Bay Independent in Gardena, CA. I have documentation of the work which goes with the car.
* Factory BMW EVOIII 2.5 pistons
* Factory BMW EVOIII 2.5 crankshaft
* Factory BMW EVOIII 272 degree intake cam
* Factory BMW EVOII 264 degree exhaust cam
* Factory BMW EVOIII 48mm throttle bodies
* Factory BMW EVOIII 50/50 2 piece header
* Factory BMW EVOIII air flow meter and "big green" injectors
* Factory BMW EVOIII factory lightweight flywheel and factory
* All new incidentals: factory oil pump, water pump, fuel pumps, fuel lines, thremostat, belts, cap, rotor, timing chain, rails, O2 sensor, etc
* Factory clutch, TO bearing, etc.
* Powdercoated valve cover and plenum in red.
* Mobil 1 Oil
TRANSMISSION
* Original transmission exchanged for a low mileage replacement.
* Factory BMW Z3 1.9 Shifter
* New transmission mounts, flex disc, and seals
* Redline Oil
INTERIOR
* Soft leather seats in cardinal red
* New matching Factory floor mats
* New Factory carpet in cardinal red (very expensive and no longer available from BMW)
* Factory lighted leather shift knob and boot
* Alpine/ADS/Soundstream stereo system - sounds fantastic
* Expensive European Momo steering wheel

No, that's my friend's garage. The picture was taken when I went down to Cali last summer to pick up the 325.
See you next TSX meet!
