My gf's car got keyed in an apt underground gated parking lot.

I'm not kidding. I'm stab this fucker if I find him.

My gf has been in a financial problem situation for about 2 months. She's been working fucking hard just to live up. She was about to sell her BMW to have to some cash to pay off her bills.

Now I don't know how much her is worth with those key marks around the car..............Some fuckers just deserved to be burn to death.

Sorry guys...... for ranting and cussing on here. I just didn't know where to rant.

Since her car was parked in the gated parking lot, we could claim an insurance reimbursement through apartment's insurance? I don't know what to do guys..

Her car insurance doesn't cover something like this? Unfortunately, the odds of finding the perpetrator are not very good.

Comprehensive insurance should cover acts of vandalism. Call you insurance company and it wouldn't hurt to ask the renter's insurance either.

Insurance should take care of it minus deductible as this falls under comprehensive if she was carrying that.

That said, I hope the fscker who did it burns especially considering your GF's financial situation.

Been there... twice. I'd have no problem castrating the f*cker that did it to my car, oh did I mention, twice? Sorry this happened. Hopefully you can get it fixed and sell it for a good price.

Hmm...when my rear rear quarter panel was hit in a parking lot I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket. I have Progressive, not that it should make much difference.

Thanks alot for the advise guys..

She did talk to the apt manager and he said their insurance probably can cover it for her. My gf filed a police report today so I guess she has to call up the renter's insurance company and file a claim..

Still now her car worth like $1-2K less than it should've been right..?

I have another question though. What type of repair process does her car has to go through now? Repaint? Replace the doors??

Her car is 2003 325i fully loaded with 60K miles. She was trying to sell it for $9-10K. Now I don't know how much it should be sold in the market...

I would imagine if you took the car to a reputable body shop there should be issues with loosing value on the car. I mean, it's not like it was in a collision with structural damage.

I would ask around about quality body shops in your area. I've had a bad experience with a collision shop that I took our cars to and I will steer other people away. If I can, I refer them to a shop I was very happy with.

They should only paint the doors, no need to replace them. If the shop does a good job then it shouldn't affect the resale value. Like Gen7Milan said it's not like the car had frame damage.

If I'm interested in the car I'll pay the same money regardless if a door has been (properly) repainted or not.

Diminished value can be a factor, but I don't think you need to worry about that in this case. Like others said, it's not like the vehicle suffered a serious structural damage. It's just... paint.

As long as the body shop does a good job, I don't think it will affect the value of the vehicle. After all, a quality paint job will put the car back in its shape before this incident, perhaps even better.

Best of luck with the repairs.

Yeah don't cheap out on a good body shop. I did that and now I'm living with the poor paint job they did. If it seems too good to be true, well, you know.

check it out...and if it's to the metal..start with a bottle of touch up paint first to fill it in. I was researching this when my best friend's gf's G35 got keyed last week. Seems like there relatively cheap fixes for something like this.

People are jerks...GOOD LUCK!

Without seeing the picture it is difficult to suggest what all may be needed. If you find a good bodyshop or even a good detailer, they may be able to touch up and then wet sand & polish it over to blend it in. Again do your research before recruiting any services.

If the car has to be repainted and you're in or near OC, take the car to Sterling Collision in Tustin. It's owned by the same company that owns Sterling BMW. They're also BMW factory certified.

I wouldn't worry about the market value. Take good pictures (under the sun) of the damages so you can show them to the prospective buyers, if they ask.

Let me know if/when she's ready to unload the car...

There's been a problem..

The renter's insurance is not answering the phone. We cannot get a hold of them for a second.

Asked the apartment's manager, she said the apartment cannot help us with contacting the insurance. They told us to deal with it.

Also, my gf politely asked them to change the parking spot to different spot somewhere far from the current spot, the manager said "well if someone hates you and decides to key your car again, he/she will find my gf car somehow." WTF???????????? yeah fuck youself then what???? We want some reasonable solution. My gf is just worried, that's all.

I don't know what to do guys. Just stuck here. How do I approach this type of problem......?

If you eventually cannot get a hold of renter's insurance (assuming they would even cover this), then go through her car insurance. Rates won't go up for something like this, and this is the type of thing she pays for every month in her dues.

Keep calling the apartment's insurance company like they owe you child support.

If the insurance company is avoiding you, then leave a nice voicemail stating that you will be forced to contact the Insurance Commissioner's office since you have made more than reasonable effort to make contact with them, and that their practices need to be looked into by the Commission.

That just about guarantees a call back.

Well, depends on how much it's going to cost to repair the scratches. If they have to repaint the car it's going to be expensive, probably more then $1000. I'd take the insurance money (minus the deductible) and find another shop to paint the car for cheaper.

But I really hope you reach the renters insurance. It's just ridiculous that you have to chase these fuckers! I would also slap the bitches who refuse to re-park the car.

Edit: Wait, If you go through your insurance I don't think you can just take the money and run. You pick the place and they pay, I think. That would suck!

Take it to the bodyshop and get an estimate in the meantime.

That way if the insurance asks, you will already have it.

Why do people do things like this? This is something only women do, and even then its stupid.

Seriously, does it make them feel better about themselves or something? It should be legal to beat the shit out of someone who vandalizes your car. Really though, what happens if you catch someone messing with someone else's car, or yours? Can you stop them and try to get their info (yeah right) and if not beat the crap out of them, get their information and report it to the police? Knowing the law sometimes the person who served up some vigilante justice will probably get arrested. Can I claim it was citizen's arrest?

Hopefully your girlfriend can get this fixed for cheap
