My AWESOME Lotus Test Drive Experience
So I was bored waiting for my girlfriend to get out of school, so I pass by the Lotus dealership and decide to pull in and check out the new Exige S. I pull up in my Vette and get out, subsequently greeted by the most AMAZING salesman. I tell him I'm a doctor and I'm looking to trade in the vette and try something new (B.S., other than the doc part). Anyway, he asks me if i'd like to go for a test drive and I say of course. He copies my license and then proceeds to pull out a sweet red on black rims Exige S 260 (looked great BTW). He gets out and tells me "let me know how you like it." I thought he would get into the passenger seat, but he was not getting in He told me to just bring it back after I get to test it around!!!!! I brought it back 30 minutes later
First impressions...HUGE hump to cross over to sit into the driver seat (would be very difficult for a big guy to get in and out of this thing!). Pressed the push start button and took off on my way. Not a huge amount of refinement, but this is definitely not its purpose-----This thing felt like an S2000 on steroids (secondary to the less weight/power/awd)! Shifter was nice, but not as nice as the S2000's shifter. The exige S, however, felt fairly torquey despite its low rating. I loved how it took turns hard on the throttle without loosing the rear end (something I noticed the S2000/and obviously the vette love to do with all that power).
Overall, this thing really left me with a smile on my face---it was pretty quick off the line, but lost some steam after 100+. Also, there is zero refinement, but that is not what this car is about. Ride is definitely rough with some "pops" in the chassis over slightly rough bumps. Ride was definitely harsher than my Z51 equipped Vette.
The Bad and something I could never get over: The Intercooler on the Exige Blocks the whole back wondow----ZERO visibility from the Rear window-----hard to keep a look out for those guys looking to give you a ticket
When I got back 30 minutes later he didnt question me at all (despite the new car smell of obviously just being ripped!)---all he wanted to know was how I liked it. The salesman was so cool, I would have bought it if I was in the market just because how courteous he was. After talking with him, I found out an interesting factoid: No Financing though Lotus and no leasing via lotus. Anyway, that's my story.

Matt, it's next to the Passaic St. service place....they have a whole different staff than Park Ave Acura.
I really wanted a shot at driving the new Exige S 260 more than the Evora hearing what a track star it was for so long....although it would have been nice if I could have tested both.

What specialty? I graduated from NYU Med.
Nice, pics look great and I'm glad to hear it's impressive in the flesh.
LOL. I show up to the exotic dealership in a tank top, surf trunks, and slippers but it definitely helps to pull up in a Porsche.

I'm derm, trained in Michigan at Henry Ford.
Is Hem/Onc 3 or 4 years now? I definitely commend you on the 3+3 route, I was 29 y/o in my last year of residency and so over presenting patients to attendings and going to lectures hehe.

Cool man. I have a patient with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma who was evaluated at MD Anderson. The consultation was very thorough. Another patient is part of a 2 year experimental non-Hodgkin's lymphoma trial at MDA, he's doing good but is still uncertain whether he's in the placebo or active group LOL. He flies to Tx every few months or so for treatment.

Yea, Heme/Onc is still another 3 yrs. Definitely not looking forward to presenting pts all over again, but I cant think of a better place to learn/train and go back through the whole resident hoop-la.
