My 1986 951

Just thought i would start a thread on my other car since i was getting some questions about it. I am going to be repainting the car and doing some more engine work so it will definitely be faster. The engine bay is going to be all polished and power coated when i am finished so i can't wait. When i dyno'ed i had a bad #4 ring and later to find out i was leaking oil somewhere so next time i will be prepared. Here are some pics and vids

Lookin good! My all time favorite 944/968's were the early 90's convertibles...Specifically white with a navy top...hotness!

Nice... I'm a 911 fan, but I've always liked the 951 (especially the 1988-89 944 Turbo S) and 944 S2's...

Slick car- are you repainting the same color? Have you taken it to the track yet?

I am still debating on a color that i am going to repaint. I am either thinking black or some type of red like candy apple red. I have took it to the track once when my clutch was giving out and running lower boost because i didn't get a chance to go to the dyno at the time. I ran a 14.7@100mph that time.

that are great handling cars with a 50/50 ratio with great braking. I was actually surprise how much power with little mods it can make. The only downfall is that parts are expensive but thats what happens when you want to be different

I'd keep it the same color as it is and just refinish the existing paint and use the rest for mods. Is it pretty reliable?

THe previous owner painted the car like his ass so it has tons of orange peel and the paint is start to chip off. The car being reliable all i could really say about that is i won't use it as a daily driver

What's with the 951 designation? Why not 944?

The 951 was the factory model designation for the 1986 model 944 turbo. But instead of calling it the 951, they kept the name 944. In 1988, the 951 was again upgraded, but called the 944 Turbo S. Its like how they came out with the 968, which is basically a 944, but Porsche was trying to boost the poor sales of the 944 so they made it sound like a new model. The 968 was going to be called the 944 S3, but it didnt happen.

I suppose it's similar to the 911's different factory designations such as 930, 993 and 996. That makes more sense why you say 951, but only to die-hard Porsche fans.
