Not really the most Powerful production car though. Correct me if I'm wrong but is power not measured in HP? If so, it still falls short of the Enzo and McLaren F1. It has 612 to 650 and 627.

I know its nit picking but........

True, but then there's the torque as well.

Torque != Power

I have no doubt at all that this car has more torque than any other production car.

Edit: Actually I can't even think of any trucks (not counting semis) that have this much torque. Wow!

Are you sure? I always thought HP = Power and I could have sworn we discussed this not too long ago.

Well, no. And that's what he keeps mentioning on the video. And that's why 8 men can win in a tug-of-war with the car. This car is fully traction-limited.

I dont think the enzo and f1 are considered "production cars". I think production refers to an assembly line. I could be wrong though.

The bit where he goes to the golf course cracked me up.

The F1 has always been considered the world's fastest production car. At least it is in Guiness world's records. But either.

I always thought "production car" just meant "car you can buy", i.e. not a race car.

hey how about the sl65 amg, the sl is the fastest production benz as is in 55 form, so wouldn't adding the same exact engine into an sl and cl make for the sl being quicker? 0-60 in 4.2 seconds i believe on the sl, but ill watch the video to see. again just a thought.

oh, and i just remembered the bugati veyron . something like 1000 hp?!

No they don't.

They do make an S600 (V12 twin turbo), but it's not AMG-ized. Only 493HP/590lb.ft.

M-B says Shaq's S55 is just as fast.

Clutch, who doesn't mind being wrong in this case. This will be one of the baddest cars on the planet.

Yeah but the SL is a 2 seat roadster and the CL a 2-door S-Class. I am pretty sure the SL is faster. As for the S65, it's nothing more than a future car. MB is putting 6.5L TT AMG engines into a lot of their cars to mark some sort of anniversary, don't know what it is though .

As for an SL65 AMG v.s. CL65 AMG, correct me if I'm wrong. But I do know in all cases when they have the same engine, the SL wins due to weight.

I'm pretty sure we were talking about power not who's fastest but the SL should be quicker being that it's about 200# lighter.

oh. well in that case theyre equal of course. But nothing can top the Bugatti Veyron, 1,000+ HP out of 4 Turbos attached to a W-16. Not bad for $1,000,000 .

True, but I hear they're having a lot of problems with development (i.e. trying to live up to that number). I think they shouldn't have stated that HP number to begin with. Just causes problems.

Why do they put a 7AT into an SLK, but a 5AT into an S65. Come on MB, AMG deserves a 6MT. I understand the Auto in the Luxo barge sedan, but how about a 6AT, or the 7AT YOU PUT IN OTHER CARS ? AMG's only fault is giving their cars 5AT. It's a shame .

I don't think the 7AT is strong enough to handle all that torque. It is a shame, though...

Last I heard they were scrapping it altogether. The only ones in existance are the prototypes.

Bingo.

Mind you with 700lb/ft of torque I don't think you can really be in the wrong gear.

ummm do you realize how heavy of a clutch you would need for a car with 700lb's of torque. Damn i can only imagine.
besides benz makes really good auto trannies one of the best in the bussiness. Besides i doubt many people who by the s65 want to drive manual anyways they probably got their ferriaris in the garage when the urge kicks in
