Camry feels like plastic...feels a little scary driving that on a slightly uneven road.

Steering TOTAL numbness, acceleration is poor even with the V6 model, steering wheel feels like crap, cheap bleh looking interior.

I feel either the Honda or Hyundai (for the price) should have won.

You do realize that Camry v6 will outgun the Accord V6.

If i am not mistaken, Camry SE V6 also out handles the accord EX V6.

 

I agree. The 2010 Sonata is a well crafted piece. It looks fresh and rich even in pictures.

Does anyone else think that the 2010 Sonata stemmed from the same design language as the 2009 Infiniti FX? Take away the Sonata's chaotic grille and give it some bigger wheels and BAM, you've got a car that looks like a sibling to the FX. Heck, let it keep the grille, it could still pass as an Infiniti. Compliment or critism, take it how you want, but in the end it's still a sexy car. 'Fluidic Sculpture' or not, it looks like Hyundai hired the designers of the FX to create a sedan.

If I had to choose, it would be 1) Sonata, 2) Mazda6, 3) Altima. Sonata has a beautiful and by far the best interior along with a crisp exterior. From what I hear, the Mazda6 has an excellent ride that borders sport/smoothness and has a slick interior/exterior. Altima looks its best in 3.5 trim, but has probably the worst interior design of them all. '10 facelift didn't help the exterior either, TME.

 

Many have tested the Camry's acceleration, which remains to hoover around 6.2 seconds. MT tested it when it debuted and got 6.1. That is in no way 'poor' for an everyday-everyman car. It may feel cheap, but numbers don't lie.

 

But for about the same money, you can get a Legacy GT and be under 6 (5.6 according to MT).....

In regards to this comparo it seems they where looking for a basic all round midsize appliance. The Camry fits this purpose very well. I have been in both the newer Camry and Accord 6cyl versions alot. While I prefer the styling and Handling of the Accord, the Camry has more rear seat room, cargo capacity and power. The Camry also seems to have a better quality of interior as it seemed in my experience to handle the test of time much better.

When you consider all of this and this is probably what most of the consumers in this category are looking for, you can kind of see why the Camry would win a comparo like this.

One vehicle I felt that was underrated and should of had a higher ranking was the Subaru Legacy. IMO that vehicle is a great value being that in Canada they are comparable equipped and priced the same as an Accord but with the added feature of AWD which is huge bonus considering Canadian winters.

Camry does not more rear leg room than LS-460. they have LS-460L for those riding in back seat. LS-460 is drivers car with very tight turning circle.
nice try to divert. there is another comparision from C&D. Sonata is getting any better mpg than Accord despite having 6speed auto and DI engine which produce alot more torque for effortless crusing.

 

double standard much? camry has 2.5 more inches of rear leg room than LS460!! don't bring up longwheel version here. i said LS460. by your logic, you should've at least said camry and LS460 is same sized 5 seater, just like you think civic and sonata is basically same 4 seater. lol again, LS460 is much bigger car than Camry, and Sonata is much bigger than Civic regardless of rear leg room specs. not only it's a common sense, but it's very visible in person. just go seat in the sonata and civic. sonata is MUCH BIGGER THAN CIVIC.

and jeez, what do M/T know about fuel economy? they had 11.6mpg on the new mustang! 11.6!! much worse than 13 something on both camaro and charger. lol weren't these machos supposed to have a decent fuel economy?

bottom line M/T don't just drive the car. they beat da @#$@#$ out of the car! so their observed MPG ISN'T REAL WORLD!! because in the real world, we don't race midsize sedans. if you do, shame on you.

dds are sonata is more economical than accord. 22/35 24/35 is better than accord's rating. standard testing is there for a reason.

 

The Camry SE V6 doesn't drive bad. I think that it has easily the best V6 engine of the bunch. However it is so dull that I can't imagine a car enthusiast to buy one.

As a two-times Accord owner, I don't understand the new one. The dash is messed up and I just can't connect to it.

In absentia of the Passat, my vote goes to the Mazda6 V6 270HP.

 

^ agree. This is the perfect accord package:

Keep everything in the current Accord except the V6. Move the V6 from the Camry into the Accord and it's a pretty done deal.

Accord also came in last in a recent 4-cylinder only comparison to the Sonata. Note the Accord was the LX with the lower output 4-cylinder rather than the EX with the 190hp engine.

I hope this forces Honda to make the 190hp standard. it's puzzling how the Accord has the stiffest competition its ever had in its existence and Honda is still pulling this crap with the different engines in their bread and butter product.

 

i like mazda6, but 17/25mpg for a midsize sedan really is awful. genesis v8 gets 17/25 and mustang v6 gets 19/31! mazda really gets horrendous mpg. that's a big big deal to me.

 

Camry dont have more legroom than LS460. post some specification.
Not even single test from Edmunds, MT, C&D Sonata posted better mpg than Accord. so where is the benefit of 6speed auto and DI engine?
Accord had the best ride, space, fuel economy, NVH. that what matters in family sedan. it losses points in Magazine competition due to messy dash and styling.

FWD RDX achieved 19.5mpg in city driving. Honda can give this cheap upgrade to Honda Accord.
Honda Accord is 400lbs lighter than RDX and height is lower. so 22 to 23mpg in city and 31mpg should be easy to achieve. this all with 5speed Auto.
RDX was propelled from 0-60 in 6.9second on 5speed. quarter mile at par with V6 SUVs.
Subtract 1 second for Honda Accord.


there is nothing special about 2.0 turbo Sonata Fuel economy and performance. only good for paper specification.

I saw one today. The look of the new one is kind of growing on me, but I think I would take an A4 or 335i over it. No problem. I just think it's a car that is overlooked when people shop for cars.

On legacygt.com, they are almost as vile about the redesign as the good vs. ugly crowd here with the TL. That's how polarizing it has been there. However, it does not compete with the last gen TL and the platypus that humped the current version.
