Mazda 3 vs. RSX

ok, lets compare the Mazda 3 hatchback 2.3 to the base RSX.

of course, when it comes to interior, there is NO comparison. mazda 3 have WAY better interior then the rsx.

if you guys were to choose, which one will you get.

btw, when it comes to performance and handling, which car have the advantage. (stock wise)

dude, you're posting on an acura board... are you expecting the Mazda will come up first???? lol...

Seriously, the 3 has a nice package, but it's worse problem is the company logo on it... And that's coming from someone who owns a Mazda (my wife)...

Cheers

RSX: quicker, more refined drivetrain, better resale.

Mazda3 5dr: nicer interior, available Xenon/HID and SAB/SAC, more affordable.

You're comparing a sports car with a 5 door hatchback! I would go with the RSX, the mazda 3 hatchback isn't the nicest of cars... I would go with the RSX.

With a larger engine (2.4 in the Mazda vs 2.0 in the Acura), I would assume 0-60 would be easier on the ears in the Mazda. Not sure if it would translate to better numbers, though, as both have 5-speed manual transmissions available, but when it comes to the automatic tranny, the Acura has a 5-speed, the Mazda has a 4-speed.

The RSX is not a sports car.

BTW, I'd get the Mazda3 over a base RSX

Its ugly. I would get a base RSX and put some mods on it. It will be better then the 3 and it will look better. They Acura is better built too. The Mazda looks small, cheap, and its ugly.

Obviously, as everyone's said, it's not a very good comparision. It really does depend on if you want space vs performance. The RSX will be better in performance, handling and fun-to-drive factor, the Mazda3 has more room. I wouldn't say the Mazda3 has a "WAY better interior"...I think the RSX interior is just as good or better, it all depends on if you're going for sedan/wagon or sporty coupe. The seats in the RSX are great.

And actually, I would look at a slightly used RSX Type S...it's worth it. A friend just bought an 02 Type S for $15K and he loves it. It still looks and feels brand new.

Mazda has a better interior but it is do the age of the interior.
Mazda has available navi. (i'm navi addicted sorry)
RSX has better service (free loaners own).
RSX feels better (ride more refined).
All in all it is a damn close comparo but understand that it is because the RSX is overdue for a redesign. Now if the RSX where a 2 door TSX it would win hands down no doubt about it. Hell if the RSX were a 2 door TSX I'd get it!

The rumors seem to be leaning that way.

my first car was the rsx-s. that car was fun. the corners were always the best and the interior on the type-s was beautiful. i hate the base rsx interior, its feels so cheap, unless you get the leather package and the aluminum sports trim. but if youre willing to spend that much on options, better to just go for the type-s.

the mazda3 is sort of a "cute" car.. its fun to drive actually, but wont let you turn as hard as you can on the rsx. the rsx base is kinda loud to when you try to hit 60mph. the mazda3 is really quiet but i think 0-60 for both is kinda slow. especially since the rsx base has a 0-60 time of over 7 seconds.. which is horrible for a so-called "sports compact car". the mazda3 would be more practical and better OVERALL if youre going for something to just drive around and not really mess around with. the RSX is fun because its got a pretty potential engine and of course, the massive amounts of aftermarket companies for you to mess around with.

you cant compare these two cars though.. its just so different in many different fields.

Would probably go with the mazda out of the two since the car has more options available for the same price. Think I would look at other cars to begin with before a base rsx, car doesn't seem like a great value.

Go with the mazda 3. You can get them loaded with all kinds of features and ammenities, and you will have room to haul stuff around should the need ever arise. A base RSX might be "sportier", but not by much. (if you were thinking about getting a type S, then the difference would be more substantial).

the newer rsxs are actually pretty hot, even though you dont see them too often.
i guess that whole bubble headlight thing in the older ones was just to give the transition from the integra?
