This 2002 Type 72 JPS Lotus Elise took six months to complete and was built by TW Auto Limited of Hong Kong, China for customer Jimmy Wong. The interior and exterior has been fully replaced with a custom raw carbon fiber body allowing for a weight savings advantage of 66-88lbs under the original weight of the Lotus Elise. Additional aftermarket parts were added to supplement the weight loss including a KW suspension package, JP Racing wheels, Lotus Racing exhaust, a larger intake and air filter.
We questioned if the effort was really worth it, but it certainly does look cool. Just make sure to clean up the drool when you're done.

I'm sure that cost a lot of money to save 70lbs...and to make your car look like shit. No thanks.
On a side note, I saw an Elise on the road a few weeks back...and I thought a Miata was small! It was like a go-kart with a roof.

I hadn't seen one in person until this summer (well last summer since it's now 2009). There are a few Elise's and Exige's in my area, so now I've seen a few of them and they really are tiny.
I was looking at picking one up when it's time to get a car and my wife was all for it until she saw one in person. She was like... damn, I think we'll both feel claustrophobic in there and we're little shits.
I think that summed it up well . Then again, it may be different when you're actually sitting in one...

i agree with most of ya. if you have disposable money to get a fun car to whip around, why not just get an Atom? hell, if youre adament on wasting 50k on the fun-factor, just build a makeshift go-kart track in your back yard. <- maybe that's just me.
but to actually use this to get from point A to point B...f' that.

Carbon fiber saves a lot of weight and is increasingly used in performance cars. But making a whole car out of carbon fiber may just end up being a tad too expensive. But someone has given it a go anyway.
Pictured here is a 2002 Type 72 JPS Lotus Elise built (or re-built?) to order for a Chinese customer by TW Auto Limited.
The Hong Kong based TW Auto has completely replaced both the interior and exterior with customized raw carbon fiber panels. The weight saved on the already feather-ous Lotus Elise? 66 to 88 pounds (or about 40 kg).
Additionally, the diet also included a lighter KW suspension, Lotus Racing exhaust, JP Racing wheels, as well as bigger air intake and air filter.
The re-working of the Elise took a whole 6 months for TW to complete for customer Jimmy Wong.
No details on cost were made available.

It's funny that he parked the car in front of a girls only school while taking the photos. Trying to pick up some ladies no doubt.
