lost wheel lock key

Hi Folx,

I just realised that the key to the wheel locks on my Honda Accord is nowhere to be found.

While I don't mind paying for the new locks and key, how do I get the old locks removed?

Please help, since I'm in the process of selling the car.

Thanx.

my friend lost the locks to his car so i welded a screw onto the wheel locks and then broke them free that way. if you dont have a welder then i think you have to call aaa or something because they might have the things that fit over the wheel locks to break them off.

Take it to a wheel/tire shop. They can break 'em for ya, and it's not that expensive, either.

Is it OEM locks? If so check if any dealers have a spare key that's the same.

If not, then as P-A said, take it to a wheels hop. Sometimes they have keys also instead of breaking them.

that happened to me once and i went to my uncles house which is a ghetto mechanic and this is what he succesfully did....

this depends on how the lugs are on your rims.... mine were not flush and were alittle bit raised....

He got a chisle, then he hammered the lug a little until he got a nice deep line....then slowly he angled the chisle down and hammered forcing the lock to turn....

Also ... a friend of mine got it welded but it left a part of the rim black so i would be careful with that........ i ve never used this product so im not sure how it works or how strong it is but maybe you can use jbweld to stick something to it and give you some leverage...

good luck i know you must be frustrated

1 - Go to the dealer. They have the master set of locks
2 - Bring the lugs that were left over and put them on
3 - Write down the color of the wheel lock (they are color coded, i.e. green, blue...)
4 - Call McGard www.mcgard.com and order a new key ($20)

If you have the original packaging, it should have the serial number for the wheel lock, especially if it's mcgaurd, they're good about that.
