looking for a project car
I'm looking for a project car. the thing is I used to have a 89 CRX si I with a B18C5 motor in it, it had a ton of other sh!t on it to. I loved that car. however I sold it around the time my daughter was born. now I finally got some money I'd like to get something again to play in. I'd prefer import. something that's easy to get mod parts for. I know the Integra Type Rs are easy to get mod parts for but the price they want for a Type R is bull shit IMHO.(they want 18 grand for a 5 year old car that's in good condition). I don't care if it's Rear wheel drive,AWD or Front wheel drive.
Supras are about the same as Type Rs as far as price. you can drop 30-40 grand on last gen stock TT.
. I don't really care about comfort because I'll end putting Sparcos or Racaros in it. and I don't care about MPGs unless its getting 2-3 miles to a gallon.

I like the 350Z but It's hard for me to take a new car out and just run the piss out of it when it's brand new. or take a brand new car tear the motor down and basically rebuild it 2 days after getting it.

I'd like a Honda because I got a local mechanic he specializes in Hondas he's a honest good mechanic.(i used to work with him at Honda) but he'll work on other brands but his "speciality" is Hondas.
One of the ideal project cars is a 1987 - 1989 Mustang LX 302 CID notchback (as in not a hatchback). These were real sleepers and some are still out there. Doesn't take a whole lot to get these cars into the 12's.
A neighbor and I were talking about getting one of these last year and setting it up and about 2+ weeks later, I saw a pristine copy of one for sale. Didn't get it, though. I already have three vehicles and only a two car garage. My Ranger truck has to live in my driveway.
Incidently, the neighbor I mentioned already has a "toy". He build a Factory Five replica of the 1966 427 AC Shelby Cobra.. took him 3 years and he finished it up last year.

Thats what I learned to drive in.
look at 2nd gen rx-7's, i have a friend who him and his father played with them. turbo charged they were lots of fun, only downside is the motor.
look at the old wedge style mitsu clipses with awd and such they were fun cars.
a motor swap in a rabbit is always something i wanted to do, guys drop the 1.8t's in those cars and they are total sleepers. but thats german, but the vw's can be some fun rides, especially the older ones.
if you had to get a honda i would get a hatch.

That's exactly what I was going to say... I acutualy saw a guy take out the 350Z engine and putin the 240sx engine... He was using the car for professional drifting.. The smaller engine was much lighter and
"there are more modifications for the 240 engine (at the time the 350z was a recent arrival to the industry) and we (the guy and his team) were able to get much more horsepower with this engine compared to the stock V6"
I've heard the 240z is a pretty cheap car to get used and MODDED properly it can walk quite a few high powered v6 and v8 sedans..
I'm considering building a project car aswell, not married and no kids.... I better do it soon, we should keep our car stickied here and get help and input from the other members.. It would be cool to have a board infulenced built "racecar", espically two

Here is an option that would be great for us both: buy my GSR Integra!. It's 1997, 120,000 miles, stock, original owner vehicle that sits now that I have a TL. It's yours for $5,500.
Type-R's had the GSR engine but it was basically balanced and ported(?) which gave them a 9K redline and a few more horse power, the GSR redlines at 8K.
You'll pay over twice the price of a GSR for a Type-R and if your going to mod it anyway there is no sense in paying the difference.

I heard current Z06 motors are crazy expensive for turn key new engines.

If you want a Honda, I was going to suggest another CRX (Si if you can find one, or they also sold a really base one that was light weight). But I see you already did the whole B18C swap thing before.
So, just for something different, try one of the 6th gen Accords and do an H22 swap, or a final gen Prelude with the H22A motor. Take out the back seats, and get a base model if you can that has no heavy A/C, no power windows/seats and no heavy sunroof.
