Loaner Cars: Gotta Love 'Em

So this morning I took my 03 TL-S to Jay Wolfe Acura here in KC for an "AcuraZine Alignment" (special $100-off coupon we got for our May meet at the dealership) and a few other tweaks. Anyway, the service guys always take good care of me, and everyone else for that matter, but one guy in particular usually hooks me up with just about any loaner car I want.

They don't have an 09 RL's on the line yet, but they've got a half-dozen or so of the new TSX's out there... so what car do you think I requested...

Anyway, here are a few pics of the beauty taken on my Instict... they're in my office parking garage, so they're not the highest quality. It was a lot of fun to drive to work this morning and play with all the toys. She's black with the Tech package. Lots of fun to drive... here she is:

Utilizing the back-up camera:

Look how far from the line I park at the office... don't. trust. anyone.

It's been fun to drive so far, but it doesn't have quite the drive that my TL-S does... but it's always fun to play for a day.

Yea, it's pretty busy. Lots of buttons... I had a heck of a time trying to get the XM channels plugged in, plus changing the color of the screen and using the GPS all at the same time...

Maybe I shouldn't have been doing that in morning traffic on the way to work, but then again, you gotta play with a toy, right?

When I take her out over lunch I'll see if I can't get any more inside pics, with the help of sunlight. Maybe I'll snag a better camera from work.

I thought this was going to be a thread about you bitching about getting a 89 Ford Escort as a loaner car... I am happy to see at least one dealer in this country takes care of its customers.

I had to bring my NSX to the dealership last week to replace the clutch slave cylinder. They asked if I wanted a TSX loaner and I jumped on it! I've driven every current Acura, except for the new TSX so this was an opportunity I didn't want to pass up. I remember seeing this for the first time a month ago, I was on the highway and I immediately noticed a car that just looked stunning in the sun. At first, I didn't know what it was and then I noticed the "TSX" badge and later went home to look up the color (Polished Metal Metallic). Anyways, they gave me a black one with tan interior. I really like this car and is much more roomier IMHO then the previous TSX. Without looking up the specific stats, I'm not sure if this is perception, but it seemed like it. Exterior is aesthetically pleasing to me, and I don't even mind that front grill. Gas mileage is great and seats are very comfortable. I have read some of the complaints of the interior, but I thought everything was placed well and much less complicated then my '05 RL. You can literally just jump in and figure things out. Build quality isn't bad, some plastic action here and there, but not sure if this is standard or if I had a lower model TSX. Anyways, as an entry-level lux car, I would definitely consider the new TSX.

At various times, I've had the following cars as loaners from Acura:

RL
RDX
TL
TSX
MDX

They formerly tried to give me the old TSX as a loaner, but I refused. I had it once and it was way too small for my frame... I felt like I was in a Del Sol or something.

This new TSX is much roomier and feels closer to my 03 TL-S as far interior room goes. There are tons of buttons, but the layout is smooth. As mentioned above, it's not compliacated and I felt like I knew where everything was within 5-10 minutes.

Most of tht loaners I got were TSX's. My car spent so much time in for warranty work that I had the same loaner a couple times. The best one was a TSX with 400 miles. I put over a 1000 miles on in in the 5 days I had it. I was moving and used it to drive shit to my new place all week.

After I completed the PPI, they identified that the master cylinder needed replacing. So the previous owner took car of it a few days before I arrived to get the car. But I was surprised they did NOT change the slave, that is usually recommended if a master is changed. I made that assumption. If I knew it was NOT replaced, I would have insisted on it in hindsight and even paid for it out of pocket.

i still think that if i bring in my car for service i should receive at least the equivalent, unless i am willing to budge... but then again if i was an Acura dealership, there would be no way in my right mind i would have an NSX loaner for my customers... would be nice though...

I am 19 so I do not get a loaner. Anyway I like the new TSX. The 1G looks very plain parked next to it now. Redo the grille a little and it would be perfect.

It's not my car... so it's not my mirror!

It's not as close as it looks. I usually keep 5-6 inches from the pole. One of my co-workers, who drives a beater btw, parks so close you can't even get your finger between the mirror and pole.

My office building has some doctor's offices in it, so there are a lot of transients who come in and ding up doors. The very bottom of the garage, where visitors don't park is where you can find the A8 L, SL500, M6, MB GL, CL65 AMG, 760Li and the like... I don't usually get to the office early enough to covet one of those spots, so I have to settle with finding a pole and putting as much room between me and the next car as I can. I've seen some nasty dings on cars from some jack-off who lets their door swing into another car.

Didn't realize the coupons expired so fast. May not get to use them. Alignment was just done a few months ago. I'm coming up on an oil change but will be getting the recall stuff fixed at that time so I'll probably go to Superior since that is where I normally go. Besides if I get my headlights in by the weekend I'll be putting those on and the Service guys at Superior are going to want to see those.

I test drove one last week while my 05 TSX was getting some work done, and your impressions match mine. It felt much more roomy that is for sure.

One thing I didn't like about the new TSX vs the 1G was the steering feel. My 05 had better feel/feedback. Back at the dealership I found out the electronic steering assist was the reason for the more artificial feel. It's not too bad though.

At first, while sitting in one in the showroom, I wasn't digging the interior that much. As I spent more time inside the cabin, however, it grew on me and I was quite liking the new model by the end of the test drive.

You might be able to use them later on... ask for Wayne, he's the assistant service manager, he'll tell you if you can use it or not. He was one of the judges out there that day. He's really cool and might take care of you. I'm sure they were banking on not many people using them, but I'm happy to have an alignment for $44. The free oil change coupons don't expire for a year, or so I think, so you've got time to use those if you don't do it yourself or if you don't have the free life-time changes.

Here are some images of the TSX loaner that I had today. I took it home before returning it and took a few pics with my DSLR:

Here's an image of how I park at the office with my car... about 5 inches from the pole. I make my coworkers wait for me to pull out of the space before I let them get in my car; can't have anyone busting up my doors.

New tsx starting to grow on me.

When my tsx was in service, I got a rdx as a loaner. I thought it was cute little suv, but still way too expensive for what it is.

There is like a .0000000000000000001 chance in getting an NSX as a loaner. LOL

Glad you got a loaner. I was supposed to have got one myself, but the dealer kept dropping the ball. Typically Acura dealer...
