Lexus LS460
Lexus LS460
4.6L 380hp and 8 spd automatic...
making its way close to the S-class and put the RL way too far behind that it looks like the RL is a year 2000 design
now Honda must need a V8 with VTEC to compete, or else the RL will be one of the worst selling luxury car of all time

2007 Lexus LS 460/460L
Salzburg, Austria - For the global press launch of its new flagship LS sedan - the 2007 LS 460 and long wheelbase LS 460L - Lexus chose Salzburg, Austria, a city rich in musical heritage, the setting for "The Sound of Music" and the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

It sure is a great car, but...

I love it when you say this. :gheylaugh:
But like they said, RL is not in this segment. Gotta compare it to the GS/530/M35. IMO
The LS seems like a Maybach for 1/5th of the price.
Far less flashy too, but some owners like that. I know I wouldnt want to flaunt my wealth if I were in a position to own such a car.

Maybach doesn't look like a half a million dollar car too
and what's the best about the car is the fuel econ with 19/27 and it's 4400lb, it's about the same mileage with my TL
but still...the LS is too finess looking for my taste...not bold enough

Even the E55 AMG is not known to be an "engaging drive"....and that is a clearly billed as a world class sports sedan. Recap: This is the full size luxury segment NOT, the sports sedan segment.
If one wants an "engaging drive" to win then, one needs to purchase a sedan from Bayerische Motoren Werke AG.

So I say forget about benchmark.

An engaging drive does not equal race-ready performance focused. Engaging drive means that the vehicle provides for that connection to the road (like a BMW or Mercedes provides). Lexus vehicles have typically been lacking in this feel; but who knows...maybe they have been able to create that feel in this iteration of the LS.
^ The Edmunds first drive article doesn't seem to think so (which is not surprising). Even with its level of success, I think Lexus is still too hesitant to let go of that smooth ride it's been known for just for the sake of keeping up with the sportier nature of the Germans.
