Lexus GS

All I have to say is WOW!!!. Just saw the commercials for the first time last night. They ran it every commercial break. How sweet is this car? Push button start is hot. THe whole car is just sick. Anyone else drooling over this car? Whats the pricing on one of those? 40's?

The only thing I did not like, from the few seconds they showed, was that it looks like a pig. Car is huge. I love what they did to it though, always was a fan of the GS, never really liked any other Lex before.

I was pretty convinced that this was to be my next car....after going to the dealership and driving the car, I was pretty impressed by the way it drove. The looks of the car, however, ruined it for me. The exterior is just wierd, the back end is really droopy, and the front isn't very distinctive. The interior looked just to plain, and the placement of some of the controls was no good both visually and funtionally (i.e., the mirror and other controls are in a hidden panel that swings down, but it kept hitting my knee and was hard to see because the steering wheel was in the way). THis thing has some incredible technology, but that wasn't enough to sell me.

Price wise, a well optioned GS300 came in a couple of grand shy of $50K while the GS400 was in the $55-57K range.

For a comparison, I also drove the M35/45. The interior was a lot more inspired and comfortable. The exterior takes some getting used to, but I think I like it. This car also has some great technology, including a rev-matching manual shift mode...its truly awesome. The M35/45 is in the exact same price range as the GS.

Opening the trunk and seeing the ridiculously small opening killed any chance that I would buy a GS.

IMO: it's a nice sedan. the thing it kills it (in my book) is the price. You can get a loaded RL with the A spec package for the price of decently equipted GS.

I dont like the gs all that much. The new IS250/350 looks alot better imo. Overall, the m35/45 is the winner in looks and performance
