I just saw the new IS F in autoweek.
Very powerful, but it kinda looks like my TL-S except with 130 more HP and costs $25K more.

 

to me the IS-F from Lexus is a step in the right direction. HOWEVER, the IS-F is trying to go toe to toe with the C63 and BMW M3. I think it's a step above a TL-S but not to the level of the benz heavyweights(M3 and C63)
Bottom line would i pay 60 grand out of the gate hell no.(and dealers aren't gonna deal on a new model and everyone gonna want one cause their gonna be rare the first year).
for approx. same money you can go to the Benz dealer or BMW dealer and pick up the M3 or C63. which IMHO in that class the C63 is the hardest hitter.

I have not driven it BUT, it looks and sounds the part. at Lexus' Mazdaspeed6 treatment of the exhaust tips:

From the performance numbers, 0-60 in 4.2, 1/4 mile in 12.7@~115mph, it seems like it can compete well with the new M3, even though the IS F is a bit heavier (probably 8spd transmission helps?). But stright-(paint)balling is right, C63 is still the better choice now.

 

Where did you see 4.2?

"When you pour the 5.0-liter V8's power through the highly modified eight-speed automatic transmission (from the LS 460), the 3,780-pound IS-F is good for a 4.8-second time to 60 mph on the way to a quarter-mile in 13.2 seconds at 109 mph, and it's still accelerating hard — very hard."

 

4.8 kind of disappointing and sounds slow. cause the new Mustang GT runs 5.1 0-60
4.2 sounds more on par.
isn't that what or about what the Mustang GT500 does

i don't know the SRT-4 Neon i (when it was in production) was damn fast for it's class.
not as fast as the IS-F but when i think Neon i think Cheerleader car

Even the IS350 can do 0-60 in 4.9s. So it shouldn't be surprising that it can run that fast.

 

I think I'd rather have the IS350 and spend the rest of that $20k+ on a nice, red Ducati 1098S......
