Lexus on Acura lot
I picked my car up from the service department on Thursday night. I was real late, so I had to go to the receptionist in the sales lobby to retrieve my car.
As I was walking towards the front of the building, I saw a yellow Lexus IS in the parking lot, facing the main road. I asked what car they traded in for....CL Type S!!!!!!
Lexus will one day realize that Acura's are superior

Sure Acura makes excellent cars, but still Lexus makes even better cars than Acura in my opinion(at least right now) especially when you are talking about luxury cars. Rigth now all Lexus are brought in directly from Japan so tax makes a big difference between the price of the cars from these two companies. If Lexus is willing to sacrifice some build quality and builds a portion of its cars in the US that would make Lexus car more valuable.

Lexus SUCKS just a status symbol.
Lexes cant make a care to compete with a NSX.
And for the prices, the ACURA line up of cars and trucks seems to be soo much more tempting!

I'll give you the paint job argument. IS looks better.
I won't give you the interior argument. Can you even read that instrument layout?
The Acura has this car beat hands down. Even the price!

Once I sat in the CL-S, I knew I'd never give the IS another ounce of consideration or regret the decicion to buy the CL-S.

I could have sworn that at least some of the IS's were made in US and that there are plans for all of them plus other models to eventually be made here. I may be wrong, but I thought I heard this on the IS300 board.

The dealer at Pohanka told me that several people had come in there and traded Type S's in for IS300's. Of course he's going to say that to get me to trade.
I like Lexus. The overall fit, finish, and build quality is much better than Acura's. The is the truth. Lexus's are built differently, more precise.

Ken,
Well I had figured the guy traded his $35K+ IS300 for an Integra - but I was assured it was the CL-S. Poor chap wasted all that money just getting the IS to be so disappointed. FEWL!
We all know he wasn't upgrading to the NSX unless he got some new found $$$.

First off... how can anyone say our interior is cheap at all?!? Apart from the fake wood... we have one of the nicest interiors in all comparable classes. That was one of the main factors in my choosing the car.
Second... yea. Our paint sucks... Lexus's in general have great paint... BUT... the IS has terrible paint quality... visit IS300.net... youll find A TON more complaints and problems with their paint then you ever hear about ours.
The IS is worth about 26k... not 32 or 34 or whatever it is.
Lexus's other cars are worth every penny... (except the last SC)

Not to mention the fact that Lexus is at or near the top of every single quality, reliability and CSI rating there is.
There is nothing wrong with any Lexus product. It just may not fit your tastes. My cousin is on his second GS400 and will never look back, provided his income continues to support his desire. IMHO the guage layout on the IS300 was pretty nice. At least it was different. It reminded me of a Breitling watch. Acura may have been the first Luxo mark from the Japanese makes, but it was Lexus that lead the fight against Germany.
Thank Lexus for some of the products you are seeing out of MB and BMW right now. MB has really turned themselves around in the past 10 years. WHY? Because Lexus scared the piss out of them.

Oh yeah! The original topic. I saw a Lincoln LS on the lot at the local Dodge dealer. It was on the platform in the corner very visable. Trade in on a Stratus? I think not. More often than not, these cars are bought at auction for the sole purpose of projecting the exact image we discuss. They want us to assume that it was a trade in on one of their products.

Well, I like both Lexus and Acura a lot. In fact I like it enought that I own a GS400 and am seriously considering getting the wife an MDX (was going to get her the CL-S, but we need more room).
Both cars are well made with nice interiors, but each is different. I like the LS430 a 100x more then the RL, but I like the CL much more then the IS. Of course, my favorite of the bunch is the GS
I think the only sucker is the one who is so brand loyal that they think everything made by one company is superior to all others.
