i'm surprised everyone dislikes the is300 ... it's a slammin good lookin car from the outside.. has four doors, but it's contained and not bloated.. nice interior too except for the ugly gauges on the dash.. without those i would have considered it..
i dunno.. it's a pretty nice car.. lexus knows what's up

I doubt that is the production car. I doubt Toyota drops a 3.5 V-6 in it when the 3.3 is now in the RX. The HP and Torque should match. The next IS will come in Sedan, coupe, wagon and convertible modes as well.
Quite frankly 215 hp is fine.
280hp...about time! looks pretty ugly thoug
215 hp is fine???
quite frankly, youre insane.
have you ever even driven a stock IS300???
its dog slow when compared to any of its competition. stock vs stock, it cant beat anything in its competition. maybe a fluke run here or there it will but overall, it cant compete with the low power it has.
its handling aspects are great, its build quality is great, its styling is subjective, but come on, 215 hp is well below "fine" for a sports sedan. give me a break.
not to mention, considering the gas mileage owners report for that car, it should at least give you more power to begin with.
that being said, im personally looking forward to seeing lexus/toyota take its head out of its ass finally and give the IS what it so desperately needs...more power.

I'm gonna have to agree with Sick for once. The next gen IS will most likely be an IS330.

it would be nice to have the option to get an IS430 or an IS330. an IS430 definately wouldnt sell very well as there arent a lot of people would want it, most would be more than happy with the 330 motor. but those that do want it would no doubt jump on it at whatever ridiculous price lexus would ask for the 430 version.

IMO, an Accord and an Altima for examples are appliances. I have no idea why people need 240hp in what is an appliance. They are like stoves and fridges. Like shoes and a belt. The Camry KNOWS it's an appliance and I can accept that. I don't need 240hp in no Camry. I don't feel threatned by all this HP, I just think it's really funny.
I mean, the 265hp Maxima is barely faster than the 190hp Maxima. The car floats even more, the interior is worse, but all you hear and see advertised is 265 HP.
I'd like the next IS 300 to be lighter. Weight is what kills cars and if the IS has say 250hp but weighs 200lbs more, well it may be faster but not as fun.
Until about 5-6 years ago, most cars were SLOW. Now they are hella faster but I am not sure why.
As you can see, Toyota has not gotten involved in the HP war and I hope they stay that way. It sure as hell has not affected their sales.
Besides, if your car is slow, that is what mods are for.
1SICKLEX does have a point about companies emphasizing HP too much, but that's what sells cars sometimes. Even though most people don't need 240 HP in their family sedans, it sure as hell is nice to have it. I for one can't complain about the HP wars, just wish they would work on torque more though...but if these HP wars continue, I feel that speed limits should also be increased.
