L.A. Auto Show (Acura Related)

say what?!??
excerpt from 2003 nsx link above:
"Power will still come from a 290-horsepower, 3.2-liter V-6 that teams with a six-speed-manual transmission. But now the power is transmitted to the pavement via the rear wheels."
that'd be a huge change if the 2002 and prior nsx were front wheel drive...

No Rich Bastard Here... just a lucky one!!! My buddy get the tickets every year through his job. The best part is that there are no little runts running around slamming doors all over the place! You get to see the car close up and there is no wait. I post the pictures as soon as I can. Mitsubshi Lancer??? Really?

Hmm - bummer ... gonna give one last troll thru the online stuff. What about that NBC story that was going to be on at 4pm PST? That never happen? Seems like the car was released if they saw a quick shot of it. Oh well ... guess tomorrow ...

2002 NSX official web page is up.

Hehe, I'm playing around with the "Build you Own" feature, and apparently you can get your 2002 NSX with orange leather.

I have looked at many sites covering the LA Auto Show and I can not for the life of me understand the method to the madness as to which cars are covered thus far. At first I thought Acura would not show its cars until the press heard them tomorrow at 12:00 noon, but then the NSX is released and not the CLS 6MT?
I am confused

Don't know if this is good information or not... but I had my directv receiver search for "auto show" and it found a program scheduled for tomorrow at 9am on LA Channel 5 (WB?) with the title auto show.... could be nothing, could be something worth taping.

I saw the 2003 CL this morning...
I'm in Detroit, on business and they were hyping the Detroit auto show that is coming next weekend. It was the first car they showed, albeit it was a short clip.
A brief showing of the exterior had what LOOKED like minor changes. Like I said, it was so short a clip it was hard to get a good look at it. The headlights looked different. I can't say that I caught a glimpse of the fogs though. It was Aegean Blue, and the back had the same exaust.
Next was the interior shot, and I saw the 6spd. E-brake on on the center console. It had a navi. in it. The video was shot from the passengers side, so I couldn't make out much more than that.
The reporter said that Acura re-did the CL, to make it more of a "drivers car". He made NO mention of it being RWD however.
That's about all I can say about it. It was really a 5-10 second clip at most. It looks cool though...

I don't know but I am getting nervous about the 2003 CL6MT getting a body kit and new wheels. If they just drop a 6MT in there and new headlights I am not sure I will be impressed ... hmmm ... I think I am getting the day before the wedding jitters
Also - Either the CL is a BIG secret or nobody cares as it seems the coverage of the auto shows are not even mentioning it at all. Perhaps due to details not being there ... guess we will see in about 12 hours.
Shawn S - You getting nervous too?
Come on Acura - come thru !!

oh pleez. would you guys stop whining?
there is no info because it hasnt been released yet.
the show isnt even open to the public until tomorrow. VIP preview night is tonight.
the only reason the NSX, Model X... other cars... etc... have info out on them is because Honda already released the information on their press web sites PRIOR to the show.
do you really think the handful of cars with pictures so far are the cars stealing the show? get real. have some patience...
Acura is supposed to unveil the car today... so I am sure we will start to see info once the doors open for VIP's tonight.

TO ACURA SERVICE
Since I am writing this at 11:15 and the Acura press conference is at 12:00, we will likley see the new CL very shortly, so why dont you just completly spill all the beans on it now so to prove that you realy did know what it was going to look like and you were not just leading us on the whole time .

Yeah I just saw the clip of the Acura CL 6speed on ch5! The outside looked the same to me I dunno though...their feed was crappy so it was choppy, but I definitely like seeing the 6speed stick shifter for the first time!

Sorry Guys... My VIP tickets didn't come through for tonight's show! I will have to see it tomorrow. I've been seeing a lot of talk on other boards – looks like there are "very minor" exterior and exterior changes. I figured that. Until a complete maker is done, we won't be seeing much of a re-do on the CL.

Saw the KTLA ch.5 clip on the auto show too. They showed a quick clip on the CL...hard to see all the changes...just lookes like a face lift...didn't see the rear. All auto show times are PST. I think we have a couple of years until we see a major change.

Acura's press conference time is noon (PST).

I don't expect a body kit from Acura--I'd like one, but it's not their style for that model bracket. And certainly never RWD (and not AWD this year anyway). I except a little tweak on the front, maybe a minor tweak to the rear (like the TL), the 6 speed, no added HP (but I can wish).
The lack of manual transmission has held me off the car for more than a year, and my only reservations about the looks are with the front end, so this will probably be enough for me to follow through on buying one, but I can still hope to be surprised with other goodies

They offer body kits for many of their cars, including the TL, which is basically a 4 door CL. One would think that the supposedly sportier coupe would also get a kit.
