Keepin' up with teh Jones's...

Well, one of my co-workers just scooped up one of these...

http://www.mbusa.com/models/main.do?modelCode=SL55

He just ordered a chip, exhaust, intake, headers and other mods to boost the HP and torque another 100+ respectively. Fawkin' sick.

Said he'd let me take it for a spin when it comes back from the shop.

Young 30's, he was much like me: Buy appreciating assets, don't blow cash on depreciating liabilities. Funny thing, he drives an '03 EX-L V6 sedan and '04 Yukon Denali XL as a winter beater.

Divorce (no kids), changes one's perspective I suppose.

What is extremely funny to me is that my dads (an 03) was $20,000 less for the same damn car 5 years ago. The car has gained 17hp and went through a different NAVI system change but, other than that, is exactly the same model from 2003.

Thats MB for ya

He considered it, but with the additional weight penalty, he decided save a few $$ and mod.

The depreciation on the 65's are awful too. Much like the 600's, they just don't seem to hold their value all that well.

And as much as I love the 55, +1 to the 911TT over it.

To each his own, variety is the spice of life. Thankfully, there are many sweet rides to pick from.

He wanted fast, luxury, open-top, but didn't want a punishing ride.

The guy who is tuning his car advised him to stick with 19's, any size bigger will adversely affect ride quality. I didn't ask him about tints, this will be his summer car so don't think he'll be driving top up too much.
