Just hit something..what to do?
Hey all..good morning..
I was on the freeway this morning doing about 65-70mh when I hit what looked like a square shaped metal thing sitting just within the slow lane. I didnt see it until it was too late....DAMMIT.
How do you report such a thing? Do you have to pay out of your pocket or just your deductible? DAMN!!!!!!
It dent the left panel by the door edge....scraped all the way down the side of the door to the rear panel where there is another dent. DAMN

depends on what your deductible is. If it were me I'd be really pissed because my deductible is $1000. And that's the amount I'd have to pay, anything over that, and the insurance company should pick up the rest of the tab.
Just report it to your insurance company and the DOT.
Morethan likely you'll be stuck with the deductable.
Same thing happened to me.
It was round and when it hit the car it felt like it was a manhole cover.
It didn't really damage the car but hit one of my rims. The tire was destroyed.......

should have called the city--
my friend ran over some small construction crap and it bent wheel.. made him slide into curb-- fucked up the front end of his car, and the city paid for everything.
Happened to me in december. I hit a piece of road debris down I95 in a construction zone. Chipped & craked the paint on the lower part of my bumper. I had to call the FL DOT, get the # for the contracting company doing the work. They gave me the # for the construction company doing the work. They directed me to their insurance co. Which said I needed a police report, & an estimate from 3 different body shops on the repair cost. I filled out a police report. The state trooper looked at the damage. Got the estimates, then I summitted it to the construction company's insurance. I'm still waiting to see if they will cover it. The insurance company told me they most likley will not cover it, but I could submit the claim anyway.

I did it for my cracked windsheild on my Jeep.
I was on the highway in New Jersey though.
It was something that fell off of a truck earlier. There was no construction around.
what i've learned:
don't say you saw it on the road but can't avoid it. if you say that, it'll count as collison and it'll raise your premium.
say that you show it fell of a truck or something. that will be just count as comprehensive and you're not at fault.
good luck

Woman driving a Nissan Quest hit a manhole cover. somehow it ripped through the underside of the car. It hit, get ready for this - oil pan, cracked it, nicked the brake line, bent part of the exhaust, punctured the gas tank, bent the brace directly under the engine, demolished the front end of the car, took out one of the control arms, man i cant even remember half the stuff that happened. This thing looked RAPED. Around $8000 at least, was what the lady was quoted, but lucky fo her insurance had her back.
Sorry for the digression - felt that I had to metnion this. Watch out for those manhole covers!
