Just checked out the 07 Accord
So I was waiting for Discount Tire to rotate my tires and I figured I would walk next door to Honda and check out the new Accord seeing as though it was one of my next prospects. Let me just say, it didnt take much for me to be uninterested in it.
You accord owners, dont take offense, but some of the things I didnt like were:
-Didnt have sport shift mode on the Auto's.
-The leather is wrinkly from the factory, where as our CL's-TL's are pretty nice. Looks plain nasty.
-It doesnt have HID's.
So for me to get the AV6, with the lip kit, and nav, it will run me about $31,xxx not even out the door. I was there about 5 minutes, before I turned around and left.
Scratch that car off my list. Anyone feel me on this that the price is a little on the high side?

Why even bother with the 07's when the FMC is coming out in September... especially if they want you to pay 31K for it... You do know that the next gen accord is coming out right ??
$31K must be MSRP... nobody pays that... When the newly redesigned 03's came out (Sept 02), I had an 02 Accord EX V6 leftover down to 1700 UNDER INVOICE...
I'm sure that they'll be similar deals this fall when the new accords hit the lots...

I paid $25.6k for my 07 Accord V6 5AT w/Navi.
That said, I have driven the 3G TL on a few occassions and did not feel it to be worth its $6k premium over a fully loaded Accord.

IF only IF you want to SHIFT your automatic so bad, just shift from D1-D2-D3-D4-D5 and you can down shift too.
i acutally like accord's seat... at least they look like REAL leather, rather than plastic.

I dont know what car you are talking about with plastic like leather, but my CL has wayyy better looking leather then the brand new Accord I just saw today. It looked like a 500lb service guy was driving it for 3 yrs.

UNC, they do make a 6MT Accord. No need to faux shift there.
As for the leather type, I knew going into it that I was not buying a Lexus...neither was I paying Lexus money.

I guess I didnt come across clear enough. I dont want a 6spd. I want an auto w/ sportshift like CL's, TL's, Z's, G's, etc. Was just disappointed and a little surprised the Accords dont come with that.

Not sure if the Camry also comes with a sportshift, but I know that the Altima has a sports shift, I think even paddle shifters?
Well the US Accords don't come with a sportshift, but the Euro/JDM Accord (TSX) does.

No, clearly you are too picky. Sportshifts's are pretty much pointless.

Probably the only thing I can't add to the Accord without paying out the ass for it is:
1.) Memory seats.
2.) Shifttronic transmission.
3.) Rear seat cooling ducts.
4.) Slightly bigger engine.
5.) VSA

Honda could have gone the Honda Inspire route* with the 7G Accord but that would have definitely intruded on Acura TL territory.
*
Comprehensive gauge cluster
Telescoping wheel
Wood accent trim
Standard day/night mirror (accessory on USDM Accords)
Rear sunshade - for those Infiniti I35 fans
Interior footwell lighting
Active noise control
Smart key system
Sequential shift control AT - For the UNCTYPE-S' of the world
Variable Cylinder Management
Honda Intelligent Driver Support System
HID Headlights
--just to name a few notable features.

I think the Accord is a great car but would only buy it in the V6 model and the 6spd is powerful enough to beat the TL/CL ..Its just not as sexy as my Honda Inspire

The leather is made to be wrinkly on purpose.. I think the trend started in the early 90's to resemble the luxury looking leather surfaces found on the European cars. Ever since then most of the leather surfaces (seats, door panels) are wrinkly, unless it's a 'sporty' type where it doesn't have the wrinkles (and nowadays usually perforated).
but of course, the leather on the Accords aren't that great... but typical grade leather found in cars in the same price range.

Agreed. I used to love it in my old TL-S when I didnt know how to drive a manual.
Now that i been driving a manual, using the sportshift in my moms TSX feels pointless. I rather keep it in D.

It's not just the SS, but if I dont want a manual I want something with SS. Call me what you want, but that's my preference right now. Who knows, maybe one day I will want a 6pd.
Also, would I be over picky if I said I didnt want a Z for the sole purpose of it not having a sunroof?

SS in Acura's are fucking slow, I thought it'd be awesome to have, but once I tried it out a few times, I realize it blows and I just keep it in D. If you want a really good automatic with "SS" get the DSG in Volkswagons/Audis. Also I hear BMW and Mercedes have really good quick shifting Auto's without even being a clutchless manual.

I have the 06 with the 6spd, and my leather is really nice. I don't know what you're talking about. After a year the leather looks just as good as the day I bought it, but it feels better as it's softer now. It feels and looks the same as the leather in the TSX. It's perforated too.
It's not as good as the leather in Lexus cars, but I didn't buy a Lexus, nor did I pay Lexus prices. In my opinion it feels better than the stuff in the Altima.

I'm sure I could find a better picture, but this will do. It looks wrinkly and loose where as after 4 yrs of owning my CL, it doesnt look like that. Now if it comes in from the factory pre-broken in, then that can explain it, but it just doesnt look appealing to me.

The Accords are nice. I prefer it over the Altima. I would say the Altima has the better engine and the interior is more unique. Honda have better resale value and the cars are well built. Look wise some say they are boring but I prefer the Accord over the Altima. I owned two Maximas before and they are fast, and good cars. I don't like the looks of the Altima. I prefer the Maxima and even at that, I don't find either attractive.
