Megan Coils now out... http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai...ead.php?t=9584
These aren't mine... and I find them a bit annoying - here's a video of someone's x-pipe / cutout combo.

I get the same mileage in the 5.0 TAU as my J32A3. My previous J37A4 (SH-AWD) got about 2-3mpg worse... considering I'm all highway I'm consistently 25-27 (as high as 29-30) I think that's pretty damn good for a 2 ton 4 door sedan with 400+ hp...

Oh trust me she does see at least 3-4 WOT opportunities a day.... it's just she also sees 150 cruising miles at 70-75mph which averages out my very heavy lead foot

Jnc, seems like we have similar car tastes. I love this car. Thanks for all of the info here. As much power as she has, I am already looking for a little more. Did you do any exhaust work yet?

That's impressive mileage. I have a lead on what my next new car may be. R-Spec FTW! Too bad the suspension tuning is not as sporty as the V.

Does the 5.0 even have any exhaust options? I'm not talking catbacks. Any header and catless options?

The primary's are right off the header - integrated with your traditional flex pipe.
As of right now I have the MSA deletes - nothing else... although you guys might get a sneak peak soon if your lucky.

At least we have coil over options now
As a side note I'm at 18K and my OEM's are shot. Time for replacements.... Decisions decisions...
Bob I'm in the Cleveland area quite often. Let me know if you would like to meet up and you can take her for a spin.

Ok, a little update... crossed the 21K mark a little bit ago. That being said I did replace the OEM wheels / tires as they were worn. (Pictures shortly as soon as camera battery charges.) Studded Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7's on the OEM rims will be my winter setup. We'll see how this sled fairs soon enough.
Windshield was replaced around 15K [that was a PITA] OEM only which necessitated three attempts from the glass company to get it right. Fit and finish afterwords is perfect.
Car is holding up fantastically. It is going in Wednesday to have two small three small NVH annoyances addressed. (B-pillar, A-pillar, and rear deck / screen vibration). Pulled the plugs real quick to check for carbon as I know she runs real rich, and its looking good still...
Last but not least, SMA's are out of the picture, and HSD coils are in. Looks like I have a 16 week minimum wait for production + shipping across the Pacific to my Canidian importer... then he has to ship them to me. I'll keep you guys posted, but most likely I'll be in winter mode by the time I get them and they won't go on till late winter / spring.

pulled this off FB... it'll have to do for now (until tomorrow)
TSW Nurburgring 19x9 +32 running 275/40/19's on all fours. Sits flush and should work for when I drop it... until I trade out of them.
Being forged and having a wider track this setup still nets me a unsprung weight loss of 4.5lbs per corner. The wider track certainly helps with cornering. I must say Hyundai should have equipped this car with 245's up front and 275's in the rear from the factory. Next spring I'm hoping to have a set of Advans or HRE's...

Those wheels look great.
I saw the exhaust cutout video linked above. I was not expecting that sound. Wow.

I've been keeping an eye on this thread as well. The Genesis is due for a redesign in the next year or so, in addition the CEO said that it will get AWD. My biggest issue with the current iteration is the interior but it isn't a deal breaker. More specifically, the lack of bolstering in the seats and the steering wheel irk me the most.
I'm looking forward to the next generation.
I'm looking forward to the next generation.
Hyundai Europe has had some major input into the 2G Genesis so it should have more of a "European flair" - dynamics-wise.
For me as well, the biggest issue w/ the Genesis is the interior - aside from "lazyboy" seats, the design of the dash, particularly the center stack (w/ the hated silver painted plastic) and the instrument cluster.
But the 2G Genesis is supposed to get a serious interior (maybe not as nice as the interior of the Kia K9, but a good bit better) and the seats will get better bolstering and a thigh extension for the driver's seat as in the new Azera (the Azera's seats are a good bit comfortable than what is currently in the Genesis).
This also means that the 2G Genesis will see a pretty decent price hike - probably will start around $38-39k, but it will be a significant step up in refinement and still a bargain.
Just hope that Hyundai doesn't mess up the sheetmetal.
As for the R-Spec, there is talk about the 5.5L Tau making its way or the 5.0 getting twin-turbos. If this comes to fruition, then the R-Spec would truly become a performance line and Hyundai would likely offer a non-R-Spec V8 option.

Hopefully not too much! LOL

One report is stating that the new Genesis sedan will have a twin-turboed 3.3 V6 pushing out 395HP.
I can't see them doing away w/ the Tau V8 just yet, so that means either the V8 gets a bump to around 440-450HP w/o induction or Hyundai actually goes ahead offers a real performance powerplant w/ a FI Tau putting out around 500 HP.

Seems my drive-train woes transferred from Honda/Acura....
Looks as if this is an isolated issue so far. I'm very happy with my servicing dealer, service manager and overall prompt response from the field engineer.
HMA has authorized a replacement transmission for my Genesis R-Spec.
No fault codes, no erratic shifting. - nadda from the TCM.
Symptoms: gear whine when (transmission band noise) when up-shifting / down-shifting. Also there is an issue after some sprinted driving the transmission would delay (hesitate) when shifting between D->P; R->P -- or really any gear into 'Park'.
Dealer states the should see the new unit stateside in a couple of weeks (approx two week lead time).
