Interestingly Impressive

So I'm watching my recording of that awesome automotive news show, Motorweek and they reviewed the Volvo S60 T6 R and I was shocked by it's 3.0 litre I6's performance numbers.

325 hp - 354 ft/lb of torque for a sub 6 second 0-60 and high 13's in the quarter mile. A Volvo. It looks nice inside and out too. The other cool thing is that it's competitively priced at ~44K fully loaded.

Motorweek didn't give it high praises (surprisingly) but with those numbers it seems to be a worthy competitor in it's class. What's Volvo up too?

Looks pretty ugly to me?

And the straight line performance does not automatically translate to a "fun" car.

Its just a shame you cant get it with a stick. The 5 year warranty, scheduled maintenance, and roadside assistance is nice though.

I like them, but if buying used and out of warranty, they scare me.

I'd rather have their ancient (design-wise) S80. Comfortable, quiet and MUCH easier on the eyes. Probably just as fun to drive too.

That kind of power will go to waste 99% of the time and get your ass in trouble the other 1%.

Never liked Volvo's marquee center console. But those performance numbers are pretty impressive.

The only other car I was looking at when I purchased my TL was the S60-R. The seats were amazing and had a great ride and power, just a lot more expensive to upkeep than a TL.

My friend had a Volvo 240 and loved the thing. Now my other friend just got a V70 Cross Country, he says he loves it too, and his dad is gonna get a newer one. Definitely comfortable, and the turbo gives it decent power for a big wagon, but he already paid $750 for a local Volvo specialist for new Tie Rods, Sway Bars, and some other stuff. IMO, I don't really think that S60 is that bad looking of a car

My 5 year old Mazda is just as fast with less horsepower, less cylinders and one extra pedal. Just say'n.

I personally love the styling though.

Those numbers make me want to test drive one for fun to see if it "feels" that powerful.

I personally think it's the world of a difference better than the S60 it replaced. Stylish for a Volvo, but not the prettiest in it's class. Not ugly though, IMO.

But This:

I like the car in both T5/T6 versions. However for no reason, I am less than thrilled by the president of Volvo who bragged about having 90% of its components from China. Volvo belongs to them now.

I drove a 04 s60 R and it was amazing. The seats were were incredible, the shifter was funky. I liked it a lot, just afraid of maintenance.
