Intake & turbo: good idea?

I'm losing a long term bet with my brother: $100 goes to the first person that learns Italian. No parlo italiano!!

Christmas and his birthday are around the corner, and he always told me he wanted to spif up his 2003 GTI 1.8T; hence, I was thinking in giving him an intake similar to the Injen model available for the TSX (but VW oriented). Is that a good mod for a GTI?

I've been told that intakes for the 1.8t's don't do that much good. AEM doesn't even have an application for the 1.8t (that I can see).

I understand you. I had a Jetta IV and had to pay to get the coils replaced since mine was a 2.0 model. The recall only covered 1.8T models.

yeah my Jetta VR6 (2000 model) had problems with two failed MAF sensors, two failed changeover valves (it's like mad intake vt4k y0!), and seven failed window regulators... in a year.

On the 150 Crank HP version of the GTI HP went from 140WHP to 179WHP and touque from 153 to 220. Not sure if the 03 with 180 Crank HP has the same impressive results.

Intakes on a forced induction cars really don't do a whole lot. Headers are usually a better investment but probably out of the budget for christmas.

Seems like a nice idea. I'll do more research on it.
