Hmmm...
I say we all put in our BEST guess on what it'd cost for a 17 year old to be insured on a 350Z and then hotboyjamez can give his parent's insurance company a call. Then again, a no name insurance company versus someone like State Farm will have rates that will vary GREATLY.
Assuming no tickets and a clean drving record...
My guess going on someone like State Farm...
$3500.00/year.
It could be more. I remember when my Dad got his '93 Z28. I was 16 and just got my license. To insure me on that car with my Dad still as the primary was something like $1000/yr extra...

But like I said, my $3500 estimate could be higher.

17 years old and male are two strikes against you in the insurance business. Having an expensive sports car is another strike. Rates don't significantly drop until you are 25.
Even self-insuring a Hyundai or Saturn will be costly.
Look into good student discouts (if you're a good student) or one of those high-risk fly-by-night insurers that will be happy to underinsure you for whatever they can get...Just don't get into any accidents or your ass will be sued and you'll have your wages garnished for a long, long, long time.
Drive without an accident or violation for three years and you might see a good driver discount.
You can also get married - insurance is cheaper if you have a spouse (I'm not joking).
You should call a couple insurance companies and ask for a sample quote. Insurers are more then happy to give people quotes in hope of getting potential business.

i used the zip code 30303 and the following stats
Driver 1 1/1/1985 Male Single
Driving
Record Major
Violations: 0 Minor
Violations: 0 At-fault
Accidents: 0 Not-at-fault
Accidents: 0
Vehicle(s) Year Make Model Type Primary Use
Vehicle 1 2003 NISSAN 350Z COUPE, 06 Cyl, 2 Drs Commute (15mi)
and here is the result
Based on the information you provided and certain assumptions, including some which are identified below, your six-month auto insurance premium is estimated to be $7,174.00 for the coverages, limits and deductibles shown below
i think you might want to rethink that 350

That insurance calculator is bunk.
I talked to my Allstate agent to see the insurance differences b/w an in IS300, a 330Ci and an S4.
The IS300 was the cheapest around the low 300's per 6 months, the 330Ci was around mid to high 300's and the S4 was around low to mid 400's.
This was with 25/50 liability, and 250 deductibles for collision and comprehensive. I also have the multiple policy discount (home owners insurance), multiple car discount, and good credit discount (I have a 798 credit rating from TRW).
Oh yea, I'm 25 so I do get the big age discount! (That was the BEST thing about turning 25).
Back when I was under 21, I drove a POS 85' Olds hoopty with nothing but liability (no theft, no collision, no comprehensive) and with my Mom as the primary driver on her mutli-car policy my insurance was $1,800 a year!!!! That was with no tickets or accidents either!

I'm 24 w/ a clean driving record, and pay $230 a month through Allstate. I lease, so I have to have everything under the sun as far a coverage is concerned. Just counting down the days 'till 25...300 give or take a few....

The thing insurance companies do, atleast in my experience, is they'll put the youngest male with the most expensive car. So if ur 17 and even tho the car may be under ur dad's name and say, a geo metro, under urs.. the insurance company will put the most expensive car under u. They dont care whether u drive that car or not, if ur under the same policy then thats the treatment u get.
Its flatout rip-off but true in my experience
