I'm in the S2k at the stoplight with a RSX-S next to me....

I needed some peace and quiet tonight, decided to keep the top up. I noticed this RSX Type S with some younger kids in it behind me for a few minutes (on a one lane road) until we turned onto a main road with more than one lane. We get to the first stop light, he pulls up next to me, with me minding my own business, I'm hearing him rev his engine quite high. Still minding my own business, he's holding a constant rev at like 3 grand. The light changes, and BAM, he jerks off the clutch (he must not know what he's doing), his car hops and hesitates, and we take off....So I'm on the gas (releasing the clutch at 1500 rpm's or so), shift at about 3500, into second, shift at 3500 again, into 3rd, then 4th...By that time, he's WAAAAY ahead of me and still going strong....Guess he didn't get the hint...

So who here is going to figure out which RSX message board he's on where he's telling everyone about his S2k kill story tonight?

OK, story's over. Carry on..

I pump S2K's all the time. Just the other day I smoked one by about 40 car lengths.

i noticed around here, some people like to try to race you and some just cruise which is alright sometimes. but in NY, every single kid wants to race off every light

yeah, pretty obvious conclusion. S2000s have no torques. RSX Type-S are the shizzle man because they have "i-VTEC" which is way better than regular "VTEC".

On a serious note, when I get some ricer pull up next to me in a stoplight while I'm in the S2000, and rev the piss out of their Integra/Civic/Neon, I give 'em a nice rev as if I'm interesed, and just chuckle as I see the retards pull a half-assed FWD burnout in an attempt to show me that their penis is bigger than mine.

Ricers....gotta love 'em.

What is it about ricer kids anyways? I guess they just gotta get it out of their system or die in the process like all of those street racers we hear about...

This kind of stuff happens to me on a daily basis. They usually rev, and leave before the light even turns green

This is exactly why we don't have an RSX section, and why the RSX has done more harm to Acura then good.

Why on earth are you shifting at 3500rpm in an S2k? (other then the obvious that your not into racing). That car is designed to be shifted between 4-6k...

When it's late at night, you had a rough long day at work, and are pretty tired, almost too tired to shift, you tend to just drive in a verrrrry relaxed manner..

whenever someone's taunting me to race... and I'm either NOT in the mood, or it's a car I KNOW I can't beat... I hold up my cell. phone, as if I'm texting someone... It works pretty good... They usually just drop it.

I also do the same when someone's taunting me to race and I KNOW I can beat this car by a mile... then at the next light when he catches up... I'll hold my cell. phone up... look over and give him a look, as if... "...oh, did you wanted to race?"

I don't have TL-S so I don't do much racing at all. Plus TL is a luxury car not a race one. We have 4 doors for a reason, unlike rsx with 4 seats and 2 doors for looks

Recent post from a Ford Pinto yahoo group I moderate:

I was on my way home this morning and this woman in her 328ci was
doing her make up at a stop light. I didn't think much but she was on
it when the light turned green and so was I. I was able to catch her
(she got the jump) when we both let off due to speed limit set at
40mph. She was smiling(OK a little flirting) as I was able to keep up
and was starting to get the edge when we hit speed limit. I had to
find out what this 2000 or so 328ci could do. 15.0 sec. 1/4's, 37,000
dollars new, .88 G on the skidpad, 29 mpg. I beat all of those
figures with my $1000 Pinto. After working a 12 hour shift, I'm too
stoked about it to go to bed.

For exactly the reason you're asking that question

They were a pretty nifty car but because of the exploding on rear impact issue, had gotten a bad rap.

I lightweight rwd cars. Aircooled beetles, Pintos, Old rwd imports like the honda s600, datsuns, etc etc...

It doesn't take a lot of HP to get 2200lbs moving

Here's one Pinto that's in the 10's in the quarter mile for under $7K:

http://www.davecompton.com/joes.htm#Top (I've got scan's online of the hotrod magazine write up on the car).

I owned a bunch of Pinto's 20 something years ago... You'll probably be as nostaligic about your TA's 20 years from now as I do about my old pintos...

Anytime you can sell 100,000 of any model per year, you've got a winner on your hands.

At it's height, Ford sold more Pinto's per year then Honda Accords were sold last year...
