Reversing through a drive-thru > ordering inside.

so unless you have a circular driveway, or drive a monorail, i would assume you would want to go in the opposite direction in which you arrived in. so, P, then R, then D. (while the placement of N was originally used as a safety buffer zone).

if you want to impress a chick, change that markings to PEMDAS and tell her its in order of operations.
It is my understanding the order is required by law, but most engineers say they can produce a better transmission if they were not limited by the "PRND" order.

I don't see how that has anything to do with it. The PRND shifter is simply a control unit that talks to the transmission. You can lay the gears out however you like and as long as you keep the required pattern, you're fine.

Most new BMWs don't even have that layout anymore, it's that stupid joystick thingy. I don't think the shift lever is directly connected to the transmission, it's just a unit that sends a signal.

The R34 has become even more impossible to get into the US after last month. Actually, the whole incident has probably made it difficult for any Skyline.

I haven't driven a stickshift RHD car before, but it seems like LHD is more intuitive for shifting

If you think about it, for LHD you're shifting up by pushing up and away from you.

RHD, you're pushing up and towards you

In both LHD and RHD you just push straight back so you can use any variety of hand grips. But most people have more dexterity with their right hand than their left hand either way.

i would assume the RHD car layout is better, since 92% of the worlds population is right handed, so you steer with your strong hand and shift with your weak.
I would say shifting requires more precise hand movement than steering. Steering requires more precise.... arm movement. I'm write handed so when I right with my left hand it's sloppy as hell. I imagine my left hand would be less precise than my right

I just felt like being annoying with the right/write/left thing

Exactly. I guess back in the day having that pattern might have drawn the ire of transmission engineers but with computers controlling everything, it's not the big deal it might have once been.
