I guess I should update? Not much changed on this thing since we last saw each other. Been daily driving the car since my Benz took a dump. Actually not doing bad minus no heat/ac Took the majority of the front carpet out a few weeks back. Picked up the Built2Apex switch/gauge panel last week as well as a new master cylinder (current is leaking now). BUT most importantly, I also picked up a whole new car Found a 1990 Series 5 (kouki tails ) as a rolling chassis for $500! Turned out to have Stance coilovers, RacingBeat front sway bar, aftermarket wheels, NRG quick release/hub with Momo wheel and dude gave me a Ford 8.8 rear end (can be swapped in to work with the chassis). I originally had planned on swapping a lot of parts and re selling the shell but I'm going to keep it and put a new engine in it. Here's my plan for that car:

90 FC List:
1: 1JZ-GTE
2: CD009 6 speed
3: Engine/Trans mount kit
4: Corbeau Forza Sport seat/harness
5: Coilovers
6: Dual rear caliper setup for hydro
7: Weld that diff! (for now)
8: Big ole wing
9: SEND ITTTTTTTTTT

I'm sure this list will grow as I look into it more. It's actually red unlike the 86! Paint is pretty good, clear is peeling in places but looks 100x better than my other one. Going over to my friends tomorrow where it's being stored and I will take some pics of it then. I picked it up at like 9pm last week.

Onto the 86. Keeping it. Original plan was to part swap buuuuut I'm going to keep both. I'm thinking the 86 will be my "missile car" (a car you use to learn/bash doors in that you don't care if it is ugly) so that when I get the 90 going with a 1J I have some sort of experience with drifting. Modified lists for that follow:

Maintenance:
1: Replace motor mount
2: Replace driver door handle
3: Replace two wheel studs
4: Replace side mirrors
5: Replace clutch (moved, see below)
6: New exhaust
7: Replace rear brake pads
8: Replace driver rear knuckle
9: Replace diff mount
10. Replace brake master cylinder

Modifications:
1: Corbeau Forza Sport Seat
2: Cage
3: Racing harness
4: Aftermarket steering wheel w/ quick detach
5: Lighten vehicle (Remove carpeting front and rear/sound deadening front and rear/door panels/radio/spare tire)
6: Wheels/tires (I have 12 wheels now)
7: Coilovers (swapping from the 90)
8: Upgrade brakes
9: Hydraulic handbrake/dual rear caliper setup (acquired Z32 calipers)
10: BIG WANG GANG
11. Upgrade clutch
12. Weld that diff!
13: SEND ITTTTTTTTTT

I guess I'm an RX-7 guy now

Went by and snapped some pics. Actually my first time seeing the shell in daylight (I bought it at around 9pm a bit over a week ago). Paint is pretty good, just the clear peeling in some places. Has some damage on the LR quarter but whatever I doubt it'll be clean forever.

I may actually keep the interior. It's pretty nice. Worn in the usual places and def could use a good cleaning but waaaaay better than the carpet was in the 86. Also the battery has been relocated to the rear storage bin on the right.

:crickets:

Sooooo I have acquired several parts for this car.

ACT Heavy duty clutch
New brake master cylinder
Coilovers off the roller
S5 kouki tails off the roller
2 Drifz wheels off the roller with tires
Momo steering wheel off the roller
Turbo2 LSD with axles
Corbeau seat
Ordered Bride FG low mount rail (cause I'm 6'6 and regular rails I won't have helmet room) but are back ordered nationally until July

However none of these are on the car so...yeah. BUT that all should be getting done tomorrow minus the seat. Then it will just be a guessing game as to how long the 13B lasts while being abused.

Was just talking RX7s with one of our field guys today. He's trying to sell his Harley to get back into an FD.
Personally, I've always been more of an FC fan.

Don't get me wrong, I love FDs, but I love the boxy 80s FC/240Z/S13/R32 styling. It's also uh, real real hot today so my non AC shop should be exciting...

Same here, though I preferred the S14 & S15 to the S13.
Fully respect the FD, but would likely see an FC in my garage.

Ok! Did a lot of work to the FC this week and I'm getting really excited about all of it! We did a new clutch (ACT heavy duty 6 puck), coilovers from my roller, swapped the Series 5 tails from the roller, replaced the brake master cylinder, replaced the clutch slave cylinder and put tires on the Mustang wheels. The trans mount did break when we were putting it back in, however it isn't a huge deal to me right now. I'll probably end up replacing the whole brace/mount as someone booger welded a non OEM mount in there -_-

Maintenance:
1: Replace motor mount
2: Replace driver door handle
3: Replace two wheel studs
4: Replace side mirrors
5: Replace clutch
6: New exhaust
7: Replace rear brake pads
8: Replace driver rear knuckle
9: Replace diff mount
10. Replace brake master cylinder
11. Replace clutch slave cylinder/stainless line
12. Replace transmission mount

Modifications:
1: Corbeau seat
2: Cage
3: Racing harness
4: Aftermarket steering wheel w/ quick detach
5: Lighten vehicle (Remove carpeting front and rear/sound deadening front and rear/door panels/radio/spare tire)
6: Wheels/tires (I have 12 wheels now)
7: Coilovers (swapping from the 90)
8: Upgrade brakes
9: Hydraulic handbrake/dual rear caliper setup (acquired Z32 calipers)
10: BIG WANG GANG
11. Upgrade clutch
12. Turbo II LSD (not installed until clutch broken in)
13: SEND ITTTTTTTTTT

Unfortunately I had to order spacers for the fronts. They are rubbing ever so slightly on the upper collar of the coil overs. Trying to find some BS slip on 10mm locally but I do have 22mm hubcentric spacers with studs ordred. For now I have the stock wheels up front.

S5 tails

Dat clutch

ALSO little story time about that. Ordered the clutch from Enjuku Racing back in April. Hadn't had time to put it in until recently. Actually ended up being sent a Turbo2 clutch and it wouldn't rotate on the flywheel. Had to fix that fiasco but Enjuku handled it very well and got me my correct parts quickly.

Driving the car last night and it feels 100x better than it did before. Clutch engages nicely, brakes feel amazing, suspension feels pretty good for being a tad rusty.

Also just got word that my Bride FG low mount rail is being shipped today or tomorrow!
