Still, the thought of going back to Ford after the experience of my parents' Cougar and my Pinto gives me pause.

Edit - Are you going to use another car in the winter?
It's a good all around car, IF you don't require a full size back seat.

I'll be driving it year yound. Typically we only have 3 or 4 really bad snowstorms, my dad has no problems either taking me to work those days or letting me take his Edge. I already have dedicated winter wheels and tires for the rest of the time.

As far as being afraid of Ford because of past experiences, don't be. Don't be afraid of any modern manufacturer because of past experiences. They've all changed so much in the last 5-10 years that any new product coming out of their factories is the best it's ever been, I'm proud to say Ford has probably made the biggest leap in the quality of their vehicles.

Cool, thanks. I wonder if Ford has considered using those engine/chassis combination in a sedan or hatchback and leaving it tuned for fun.

As for the past, I know Ford's a much different company now, but some memories are hard to get over, especially the Cougar, as it was supposed to be a good car. I knew what the Pinto was when I bought it and actually had an outrageous amount of fun in the thing. (It was my first manual transmission car).

However, I also have an uncle who used to restore vintage Mustangs, so there's kind of a special place for them.

1700km update:

Other than that it's been fantastic. I love this car more and more. It seems to be driving better and the transmission even feels better now that everything has had a chance to break in...

I finally did an hour and a half long highway drive... This is the result:

It's dead accurate in the city, so I'm assuming it's just as accurate on the highway.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, I couldn't be happier with this car.

Well, I wouldn't say the good weather has arrived yet. It's poking it's nose in every few days, but a couple more weeks and we should be in the clear.

This is a windows down car for sure. The B pillar is so far back that the wind doesn't hit you even with the windows all the way down. Makes for a very comfortable drive with both windows down.

I just wish I could keep them down for more than 5 minutes before I get cold

Quick one from this afternoon, the lighting looked just right... Not sure how it'll show on the PC but on my iPhone it looks great.

I hate that too. I don't even mind people slamming the door, but I can see the window flexing whenever people push off of it

it's a downside to sexy pillarless windows. 30 mpg is sweet, Ford has definitely stepped it up with their V6s. Sorta OT but I was watching them torture test the Ecoboost and the thing just kept going and going.

Ah that picture looks nothing like it did on my iPhone 4 screen, so much more vibrant on there.

Pictures don't do the car justice. Proportions look a bit off, colour looks a little dull.... Call me crazy but you notice these things after looking at the real car every day

Aman - I just hit 2000 kilometers last night, planning on doing my first oil change in the next 500 kilometers. Already have the Redline MTL transmission fluid ready to go in, probably do that during the oil change as well. I'll do this oil change with Ford 5w20 and then change the oil again at 4000 kilometers to Amsoil 0w20 (their replacement for 5w20)

Costco, I agree - it's the downside to frameless doors. I just try and remind passengers to push from the door rather than window...

yeah, that's what I meant... frameless, not pillarless

I've seen all sorts of 2010+ Mustangs on the road, they're definitely eye catching. much more distinctive than the 05-09s IMO.

Sounds like you're with this car for the long haul, huh?

Slightly OT: How do you tell the difference between 2010s and 2011+ V6s? I hate not knowing whether to or them.

Yeah, I don't see any reason to need something different for a long time.

Honestly, the only visual difference is the dual exhaust. 2010's have a single exhaust, 2011's have duals.

Now that the warm weather is here, I can finally appreciate the car as it was designed... Both windows down cruising down the highway... I love the big doors/windows that allow you to have the windows down even at highway speeds and there's very little wind noise or wind in general... Usually in a sedan when you have the window down the wind hits the B-pillar and blasts in your face, this doesn't happen when the B pillar is a foot behind you

4800km's and loving every one of them

Also, when I decide to do the axle back exhaust, I think the Borla Touring has taken the first place spot:

I'm not the first one to say it, but it sounds G37ish. Seems like all the 2011+ V6 Mustang exhaust clips have a sound like that. Anyways, the sound gets a from me.

I didn't think it was raspy at all Before I buy anything I'll make a post on the Mustang forum and ask for impressions from people that have done it... Thanks for the compliment

From what I've read, there isn't any drone with the Borlas, but some of the Flowmasters and Roush's drone pretty bad... I want no drone what so ever, I can't tolerate poorly designed exhausts

It's just a deeper V6 sound, the G37's have a more muted sound, but similar tone... I want something deeper, not necessarily louder. Seems like the Borla's accomplish that pretty well.

I agree, it does sound a little raspy, but the sound at idle and the popping when letting off the throttle...

Looking great! I hate not being able to drive with the windows down on the highway because of what you just mentioned.

May have missed it, but what kind of city mileage are you getting? If it's anything more than 20 mpg, :squintfaw because that's what I'm getting in a 4 cylinder Honda.

Great great looking car!

Would you mind listing your trim and packages again? What was the final price you paid for it?

My coworker is trying to get the same one next month...

Averaging 9.5L/100km's (25 mpg)... I'm not exagerating here when I say that's 85% city driving... I'm quite impressed at that... I could probably do better too, it's not like I'm babying it everywhere...

Thanks!

Mine has the Pony package, Comfort package (heated, power seats), upgraded leather seats, interior upgrade package (Shaker 500 sound system, Sync, real aluminum trim everywhere, interior accent lighting) and HID's.

MSRP for the car was $32,xxx... I paid $25,xxx + tax. Employee pricing + $1000 Costco rebate + Local Mustang club discount + haggling until 10:30 at night

Holy mother...... great job on that deal!

I'll probably end up going to the dealer with him.... He just has no idea on how to do this crap. Do you regret on getting certain option or vice versa after you got your car?

I don't regret anything about the car... I skipped out on the glass roof, it's expensive ($2200) and not sure how it'll hold up on a daily driven car, it's an awesome option though.

I didn't get the back up camera, I didn't think it was necessary, I didn't want to get it 'just to have it' if I didn't need it.

Those are the only things I didn't get. Nav wasn't an option for 2011 V6's in Canada, but I believe it is for 2012... If it was available on 2011's I would have tried to work it into the deal, but I'm not losing sleep over not having it.

Got it. Thank you.

My coworker's budget is around $25k, so he'll have to take out some options to make it in. What would you take out from the options, IF you had to take out.

Sorry for asking so many questions..

No problem with the questions... I can't sleep anyways

Well, you dont need leather... Don't need heated seats and a power passenger seat... heck, you don't even need the Pony package (but the base wheels are for rental cars, so you kind of need the Pony package if you want to stand out a bit)...

I couldn't live without the interior upgrade package.... I wouldn't be able to live with the base 4 speaker sound system, or plastic trim everywhere aluminum should be...

There's so many options and variations that it's easy to build one that fits what he wants to spend while still having a good amount of options.

One of the best looking cars made anywhere in the world and yours is a perfect example. I love that color and it is what I would get were I in the market right now. There's a deep red one running around Manassas, VA (a GT, not the V6) and it looks so tight and business like when you see it on the highway. Nothing there that does not need to be there.

I happy that you're having a great time with your 'Stang. And did I say it is one of the best looking ones I've seen?

It gets compliments or thumbs up daily I sure as heck wasn't expecting the attention it gets.

I took the day off today to give it some "special" attention... I'll post pics in a bit...

Family across the street, a few houses down just bought 2 V6's. One for dad, one for son. Black and dark blue.

So now I'm jealous everyday.

Nice! Bases or optioned up a bit?

If they're 2012 Pony Packages they'll have these wheels:

Needless to say, I like my wheels a LOT more...

Should have gotten at at least one. This way they could have swapped.

But like S A CHO showed earlier Mustang prices are strange. At least up here. A well equipped V6 in the low 30's and 10-12K more for the GT. Might be hard to justify.

I agree, dad should've got a GT

Anyways, this is what I did today... I washed, claybarred, and waxed the car earlier this week and noticed that the inner wheels were dirtier than I'd like soooo....

Not only did I wash the entire wheel, but gave it 2 coats of wax to help protect from brake dust and grime... That way, when I take them off in the Fall, they should wash up a little easier.

You can't really notice a difference with the wheels on the car but I actually wanted to do this for a while, this is the first chance I got...
