I have brand new Hankook W409 winters, on steel wheels, with Ford tire pressure sensors, just sitting in my garage.
I bought those some time in September, when I still thought I'd be driving it this winter. Now I'll just use them next winter.

Anybody that says "That's why they invented car washes" has obviously never washed a car at -10 degrees.

^ He ordered it way back when, nobody know it would take 16 goddamn weeks to come in.
And I think there was an employee pricing thing going on.

I totally understand why he would want to keep it stored for the 1st winter. Its a pride thing and when buying a brand a car (maybe his first new car) you want to keep it clean for at least a year. Maybe it makes him feel good with what he accomplished when opening the garage and seeing a shiny new car.

Regarding the ordering at the time I did... Honestly it ALL came down to price. The 2012's won't be as discounted as my car was until at least August/September of next year (usually when employee pricing comes around, like Aman mentioned). If I were to order a 2012 now (yes, 2012 orders are now being taken, 2011 ordering has stopped) there wouldn't be much, if any, movement on the price.

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
Nice ride. I like the way the HID's set off the front, almost like a rifle barrel. And I do not blame you for storing it during the winter. Once you sell the SHO, pick up an older Subaru and use that as a beater. Cheap to maintain and AWD FTW.
OP: If you go to the Subaru Legacy thread and see the pics of my car, is the paint similar in color? One issue I have is the paint on my car is very soft, so the clear coat has marks on it. But I wouldn't want any other color.

And yes, 6 1/2 years later, I'm glad I did and do, this and would do it again.

True gearheads and anal enthusiasts would think this. My '04 manual TL saw snow for the first time last week (all of maybe 1/2" for about 10 minutes). It stays in the garage on snowy days and when the streets are covered with salts, chemicals, and sand.

But like C.A. said, I guess I'm just too practical.

I don't even understand that issue since I live in South Florida, but I would likely do that anti rust oil thing to it too and then go for it, that prevents the damage, no?!
OR, I'd do what you all do and drive a beater in the winter...although knowing myself, I'd pick a "beater" I love and wouldn't want to drive on the salt roads either...

SS brings up a good point though....in 3 or 4 years after a few winters have passed it won't matter. You already have the rust proofing and snows, invest in a PetroCanada Car Wash season pass and let the fun begin!
And don't forget to swing by my place.

Chew on this...

13.75 in the 1/4 mile bone stock with the base model 2.73 rear end and base model all-seasons.
With the upgraded 3.31 rear end and Pirelli P-Zero tires (Like on my car) people have gotten mid 13's.
Add on a more agressive tune and you're looking at high 12's.![Ninja](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/ninja.gif)
Keep in mind a stock 5.0 runs 12.8 in the 1/4.

I went to the Ford dealer and checked out a sweet looking GT500 they had up there. As much as I love the new Mustangs, what was Ford thinking with that ridiculous antenna? That would be the first thing I got rid of if I got one.....

Sounds quite VQ-like!
That's a good thing... finally got rid of that old 4.0 lump and now it sounds and performs like a modern 6-cylinder engine.
