I just got a ticket today =(

Hey guys,
I got a ticket for not obeying a Highway Traffic Sign, it wassn't really even a highway traffic sign, I was entering a regular street that had "Do not enter between the times of 6am-9am". Is that a moving violation or is it a minor thing? Do you know how many points that is?

Do you think i should take the driving improvement test and try to get it waived in court or just pay for the ticket and not bother with the hassel?

any advise?

my driving record has been pretty clear for the last year or two also.

I got the exact same ticket 2.5 years ago (the sign was blocked by a big truck) and my insurance is STILL high because of it, so it must be a moving violation. I just paid it because I figured it wouldn't effect my premiums, otherwise I would have fought it.

I was wrong.

Ha. Ironic. I just got my first ticket today too - first one in a few years (one more reason i hate Irving LOL). I was late for work and the popo got me at 76 in a 60. (Gotta admit he had a nice hiding spot though).

Sounds like yours would be a 1 pointer, maybe two but I really

Well one thing is for sure, if you do the defensive driving course then you will still have to pay court fees and pay for the course and spend 6 hours doing it but in the end your insurance won't even know it happened.

For myself, I was actually thinking of just going with deferred adjudication option cus it's lots easier BUT I just need to make sure that it won't affect my insurance. Anyone know if it will or not? Otherwise I will do defensive driving.

So my options are:
Defensive driving - $117 court fee + $40 defensive driving course fee = $157 + 6 hrs of my time .. OR
Deferred adjudication - $240 fine and nothing else. - just need to make sure my insurance won't go up if I don't get a ticket in that 6 month-1 yrs or whatever timeframe

:what do to, what to do...:

6 years of driving and the most i ever got was $25 for not wearing a seatbelt. I have gotten caught speeding but they always let me go because they say i have a good record.

Tickets Suck!

I have to go to driver retraining Saturady or they are going to suspend my license.
It's a 6 hour class. I am thinking I may offer the instructor $100 to let me out of the class, think that'll work?

Well, you'll get out of class when the cops take you to holding while they process you on a bribery charge... :shakehead

omfg

This is unreal:

Just called the city and asked about doing deferred adjudication and they said I'd have to pay $240 for the ticket plus 1 year probation PLUS the 6 hr online defensive driving course ($25 - $40) because they have a rule "If the citation was issued on, or after, September 1, 2005 for a moving traffic violation, completion of a six hour defensive driving course IS REQUIRED IF YOU ARE UNDER 25 YEARS OF AGE ON THE DATE OF THE OFFENSE". I mean seriously WTF is that?!

Ya I'm definitely gonna just pay the $117 fee and $25 defensive driving course and save myself $123. Who in their right mind would do deferred in this case?!

*feel better now that I've vented*
