I got a new addiction
I got a new addiction
So I did my first track day a few days ago...and all I have to say is OMFG!!!!
I've never had so much fun on a motorcycle ever. It was a rush that is hard to explain. I mean, just doing a follow the leader session at maybe 50mph felt like I was Rossi. Than after getting the hang of it and trying to follow the proper line was where the real fun began.
Was worried about getting comfortable with my 600rr since I was used to my R1. So stopped riding the R1 3 weeks prior to the track day so I would feel better. And it took me a couple laps but I really appreciate the nimbleness of the 600cc. And amusingly enough found myself getting annoyed with the bigger bikes holding me up. This revelation got me really wanting to take the R1 to the track to see how I would do on it. Since I was in the beginner group, I'm sure it was harder for the literbike riders to find a good groove.
By the middle of the trackday, my desire to hit up my local twisties diminished. The experience was like nothing I could ever obtain from street riding. Dont get me wrong, I'm not gonna stop street riding...just gonna go about it with a different mind set. So after waking up with body parts sore as hell, I took the R1 out for a spin after neglecting her for so long. I felt like a new rider almost....I pity'ed other street riders who never went to the track. Cause it opens your eyes to a whole new world of riding.
My next TD is 7/17 (yes I'm already addicted)...and if I can get a 190/55 tire for the R1 I might see about bringing both bikes to the track. Here are a couple pics from my TD. Can't wait to get back and work on my form and confidence. The blue 600rr was one of the instructors that I know from a local forum. He had slicks on his and WHOA did that thing handle like it was on rails.

Looks like a couple people were going hard a few laps. You can see the rubber buildup on the lines they were taking.

Hey John....the track was the New Hampshire International Speedway. Its both a car and motorcycle track, which makes the track interesting since there is a portion the is only for bikes and creates swells on the track. Yea I am hooked bad....before I went to my first one I had already paid for 2 more trackday lol.
Moog-Type-S - dont have more pics....I'm sure next time around I will since my gf knows where to stay.
