So a GTO sucks over a CL because a Cl has HID's, a Sunroof, Navigation, decent fuel economy and reliability.

Lets think about this...

CLS has worst automatic transmission known to man. So I would hardly call them reliable. Hell, my Honda Accord has been towed in twice now.

Have you looked at the MPG of a 6-speed GTO on the highway its rated at 29mpg... Not bad for a 346ci motor.

I love the CLS and I love the GTO, but the CLS isn't made anymore so it leaves the GTO, G35 or 350z

I think you gotta agree though that GM coulda taken a little more risk with the styling? I mean talk about stuck in the 80's! GM starts a new division and the best they can come up with is a clean sheet design Saturn? I think a 6th grader could do better scribbling with a pencil. Now I know the GTO is a Holden and that it was designed as a RWD car down under and kudos for them doing that but the styling is pure Cavalier. As I said earlier, if GM hadn't designed so much junk, then the GTO might look good but if you look at it next to any other GM car, the curse is there!

The CL-S was a classic the minute the 01's hit the street. Nothing looked anything like it. I had ignored Acuras for years and then the TL turned my head and when it was time to get one, the CL-S showed up. I had to have it and I enjoyed the hell out of it.

For those that complain about the tranny........I never had a problem and there are plenty of others that don't have a problem. I think the tranny design was just a little too tight for the torque and HP of this engine.

You have a valid point and i agree with you, but what other car for under 35k can you get a 350hp / 365 tq v8?

While I like the GTO, and I agree it is as worthy of its price as a CLS is...

I gotta call on those MPG #'s

Ive heard numerous reports of incredibly low mpg, as well as read something about GTO buyers being charged a $1000 federal gas-guzzler tax

To put the GTO badge on that piece of import crap is a disgrace to the GTO fans, like me. Hell, it is not even made in Detroit for crying out loud!!! It's an Australian Holden. Where the hell is the pedigree??? You can't call a dog a cat just because you named the dog cat. I really don't know what GM is doing these days!!!
If I want a Detroit muscle car, I will get a Mustang, which not only has the pedigree and the looks to go with it

The AUTO has the gas fee, the 6-Speed doesn't.

@ 390hp/390lb-ft, SVT Cobra can be procured for under $35G. But then again, the same problem exists there as well: no sunroof, no HIDs (plus now the added displeasure of 1980s ergonomics).

I guess if one approaches the GTO (and SVT) as purpose built cars (a la STi, Evo RS) then it's all good. dunno.
