I bought a Toaster!

I know it's not everyone's style...

A few months ago, I bought a 05 TL 6MT and gave the wife my RL. I ended up changing my mind about the TL and the wife hated the RL so I sold the TL, took back the RL and bought her a box.

Lucked out and found a loaded 08, picked it up Thursday night. Never in a million years did I think I'd ever get one of these but WOW, I'm impressed so far! For a little econo box, there's tons of room, stereo sounds great and it's quiet and smooth on the hwy. The Toyota 2.4L give is enough go for what you need it for, still waiting to analyze the mpg's. I'm 6'4, about 250lb and when I position the drivers seat to my comfort, I can still fit in the back. I can't do that in any of our other cars.

Did my regular clay/polish today, wanted to share some pics of the box.

Was this her choice? Just making sure you not get in trouble in a couple of weeks of her driving it.

Looks sharp, cant say im a fan of those seat covers though

I like the color Vas. Did you cross-shop the Element? I looked at the 1G XB but the Element offered a little more of what I needed for surfing.

I figured you'd like it. I couldn't believe how loaded this one was.

Our friends have an 08 and she'd ridden in it multiple times so she gave me the go ahead. The dealership dropped the price by $3K that morning so I went straight after work to pick it up before someone else could. I brought it home and she's very happy/excited (especially that she doesn't have to drive the slow, heavy RL anymore )

I could have done without the seat covers too but I don't really mind them. At least they installed heated seats.

We have a dog so I'd rather not have cloth anyway.

Thanks Rick. I was actually looking for an accord or camry for her but due to the price drop, I went and picked this one up. I got one hell of a price, no time to cross shop.

Made the deal at 4:42pm, just enough time to go get a cashiers check

It's always great to snap up a good deal. I love that feeling although with the 911 it was 6 months of shopping and haggling before I got the sick deal I wanted at the end of December.

How mobile are the rear seats. Can you fold them to the sides or take them out? I was looking at swapping the Element for an FJ but the room in the FJ's rear was a fraction of the size of the Element. Anyhoo, the boxy design is very functional and utilitarian, props to detailing her in the snow LOL.

The seats fold down, not sure about removing them. I'll check on that.

When they're folded down, it's flat with the trunk.

I like it. It's grown on me especially when it's got a body kit, wheels, and is lowered.

Much better than 1G xB, IMO

+1 I always thought the 1g was unique, but too unique for me.

I walked out of the grocery store last night and there was a 1g parked next to me, backed up, away from everyone else.

I hate door dings.

1G xB is just too "unique" (and small) for me.

Sat in the xB Release Series 7.0 at the LA Auto show. I was surprised how roomy it was... the stereo was really good too. And the interior was better than I expected.

Very comfortable seats too.

I'm surprised you didn't like the TL, but at least this way everybody's happy. I guess means the RL is sticking around for quite a while longer.

Looks very nice, especially after the detail. Props to cleaning it up in the snow.

Never was a fan of those, but I like yours for some reason, especially the rear. It's a beautiful colour as well.

Debadge anytime soon?

I really like those. When I first moved here to Vancouver, I looked into used ones... only to find out that Toyota just now brought their Scion line to Canada. I haven't even really seen that many of them on the road...

My dad is 55 and nearly has a fetish for these...among many other econo boxes too. But I like it also! Never seen one with the rear wing. The color is nice too, congrats.

The leather appears to be worn, but the exterior of the car looks fantastic.

Looks like you got a box for your box.

I thought the first gen is too small as well, this one is a HUGE improvement over the previous generation.

So far it's been in the garage since the detail....it snowed, it's staying in until it HAS to go out. I hate this time of the year.

The TL's fit and finish is nowhere near as nice and solid as my RL and older TL. I couldn't justify paying that much money per month for something that I didn't really like. The scion is paid for so it doesn't bother me as much...plus I'm not the one that's going to drive it.

I don't think I'll be debadging or doing anything to it really.

I found some 19's for it but the wife doesn't want to spend money on the car, she doesn't care about mods. It's fine, I'm saving up for a GS430 for me

Thanks! Weather wasn't the best but needed to get it done. I didn't think I'd like the color as much, I don't see too many blue ones around.

The rear wing was definitely a plus when I was looking at it. I think it gives it a lot more character.

Other than some rock chips (need to get some touch up paint this week), the exterior is nearly in mint condition.

The seats are not really leather, they're OEM seat covers. Someone spent some money on them though, they're installed very well and they put in heated seats. There's no wear or tear on the inside, including the seats. It's literally like new.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I am definitely happy I went this route versus a Camry (what she really wanted).

Nice pick up. It definitely has character, unlike the appliance known as the Camry. You mentioned rock chips....was this new or used?

I guess it's just me but, I don't really understand the dash layout.

Congrats. Definitely a lot more utility than a Camry and the great thing about cars like the xB is that the seating position is very vertical, so you get a lot of space in a relatively small car.

I actually saw the TL driving on my way back from the dealership picking up the Scion.

boooo

<---------- 1G > 2G haha

2G definitely is bigger, and starting to grow on me. I hated it when it first came out, and wished they brought the 2nd gen bB here. I love the size of the 1G though, so easy to park and zip in and out of traffic, I really don't have the need for a bigger car. If I did I probably would've definitely considered the 2G or Element.

Title change had me , but I guess it is more applicable.

Guess it's nice having the RL back, huh? How is the wife liking the Scion?
