I bought a new car...

I decided to take the adult route and buy an affordable car that I can have fun with, put tons of miles on (about 20k a year for my job), and that I won't have to worry too much about maintenance. I sacrificed a TL so I can save for a house.

no front plate - YAY!

35% tint (although it's hard to tell in the sun)

I had heated leather seats put in it...they're very comfortable for long periods of driving.

It was right around $19k otd w/ a 5spd, side curtain airbags and the leather that a local shop does for the dealership. I had tints and a clear bra put on it first thing - literally drove it off the lot to the shop. I have a lip spoiler on the way from UPS, sway bars will be next, and then hopefully some springs that won't ruin ride quality. I have to say that I never expected much out of a Scion, but I love it and I'm very happy with my decision.

I'd say you are hardly sacrificing with a new Tc. Congrats.

For as affordable as a Scion is, i haven't heard many bad things about them. Great color, BTW

Thanks Like I said - I wasn't expecting much from it, but I'm falling in love more and more with every drive. Who would have known?

Congrats bro! Enjoy the ride! And post some more pics - maybe interior pics as well!

How does it handle? I know some reviewers have complained of lift throttle oversteer on the Tc's.

How much did those heated leather seats run you?

The problem with Scion is that the base price is so low, you can add up options and still come out pretty well.

The heated leather was $1500...well worth it in my opinion. I'll take some interior pictures within the next couple of days.

Have you test drove the Mazda3? I am debating between the Mazda3, Scion tC, TSX, and Accord.....the tC looks sweet as hell. Congrats!

I know it's big, but it makes it easier to see. I'll take better pictures when it's not dark out.

This is a big reason why I love this car. I have been sunroof-deprived in my Jeep. You can see that the leather is done pretty nicely. The headrests are the only thing that might not look factory, but I hear they're the toughest to do.

To answer your question, ninja, no - I didn't test drive nor research the Mazda 3. I don't really like the looks of it, just a personal preference. My intentions since I graduated last May was to get a TL or a G35c, I did a lot of test driving between the two of them last summer - but didn't have a "real" job at that point. I saw a few tC's and they grew on me, so I did the research and test drove it and plotted out ordering and delivery. It has a bunch of cool little features that normally a $16,000 car wouldn't have...steering wheel radio controls, an aux input in the center console for iPod (they also have a iPod HU that allows you to control the iPod through the stereo controls...not worth it for me, I'll be installing a nav by the end of the year), 2 power outlets (cig lighter plus one in the center console), the rear seats are surprisingly spacious, have a 60/40 fold and even recline. Now, I'm not talking 7-series recline or anything, but they lean back to a 45 degree angle...which is more than most hatches do, and the stock rims are bad ass IMO. I just wish it came with projector headlights! All and all - I came to the conclusion that it was the best car for the money and it fits me.

Haven't had any experience with lift throttle oversteer, but I've read a few posts about the backend breaking loose, so I'm sure that it's possible.

Any other questions, just ask. I need to wash it and take some more pics...that will have to wait until the weekend.

nice to see you went with it..

i test drove it a billion times when it first came out.. it was between that fully loaded at around 22k-ish or the used TL that im driving now.

i went for the TL because i did like the smoother acceleration of the V6, alot roomier, and had that simple, clean look to it that i really liked..

the tC was a fun little car, but definitly not the right car for me. but glad that youre enjoying what i really wanted at that time.

oh and one request, if you can, i never saw that car's interior lit up at night.. i saw the pics on the website, but those are done in studios and professionally to make it look best.. kinda looks animated. thanks in advance.

This is the best I could do.

I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but I installed the auto-dimming rearview w/ homelink and it has a map light on the bottom that you can change the color (of course, that's what's important to Scion) of the light from amber (like the 7-series have), blue or soft white...or off - which works good for me. I put the amber on for the picture, but it's hard to tell.

Hope this is what you were looking for, aaronnn!

congrats UconnTL: however you consider 20k a year a lot of miles?
that's normal to a little bit on the slow side for me and my family. I normally put 25 k on a car(25 on a 00 Odyseey and 25 on a 94 Accord) per year. we live out in the middle of no where so we gotta drive to do anything. Everyone ask me why my Accord has 300k on it.

Well he does have a TRD Exhaust, a CAI, a stick, and a supercharger. Stock, it's not as quick but still a fun little car. I really like the tC!

get a short shifter in that thing really. and if you plan to mod it the injen cold air intake is the best bang for the buck as it adds a lot of torque to the car.

Ugh...I know. Forgot to add that on my to-do list. My boyfriend is in Thailand for 3 weeks, so I'm trying to accumulate a few parts by then so we can spend some romantic time modding my car when he gets home. I just have to pry him away from his Mustang.

I consider 20k a lot per year because I've put about 10k/year on my Jeep over the past 6 years. I haven't begun traveling by myself for my job, but I imagine that it may be more than 20k depending on what new clients we pick up and where they're located.

Civic SI...I don't know. I've never been a fan of Civics.

I haven't put serious thought about engine mods yet (ofc the s/c has crossed my mind a few times), I bought the 6yr/100,000 extended warranty, so I don't want to shoot myself in the foot with anything. I'm sure that in due time, I'll mod the engine. I'm not going to go crazy with it...like I said, I'm saving for a house and I'd rather invest money in modding a rwd car.
