The snarker in me wants to almost say that the NSX we're seeing in this thread is just a fancy shell over a Honda lawnmower engine.

Why? Cuz. Vaporcar.

What are you on about besides getting proven wrong by all the pictures posted?

The only true difference is we've seen are highlights of what lies in the GT's engine bay. Other than that, both cars have rumored performance/engine specs, both have been seen being driven, both are slated for next year.

... unless Honda REALLY likes messing with us, isn't the NSX still due this year?

I'll take my comments back once they actually show what's under the hood of that car. Until then, it might as well be the motor from the Civic DX.

The NSX has been slated for "next year" since 2009, still waiting...

Of course they do. This car was supposed to be out in 2010 when a 550hp supercar was fast. Now you can buy a Dodge with 150hp more for half the price. And a competitive Ferrari will eat it for every meal.

nope.

But it must exist because it's been seen.

It will be a 2016 model regardless.

So instead of you claiming it had no engine & was towed/pushed, now it just has a Civic motor.

You gonna hate regardless of facts & being proven wrong, aren't you?

They said they're headed west in those two NSXs. I think OKC today.

You wanna see what's under the hood?

NSX Photos Honda News

They unveiled mockups of the powertrain layout back in November 2013 when they announced the shift to a longitudinal layout and the mockups include the engine:

Honda Offers First Look at Next-Gen NSX Drivetrain | TheDetroitBureau.com

Is this what a Civic DX sounds like?

Acura NSX Pace Car Proves That Pre-Production Unobtanium Can Still Rule

And you are flat out wrong about the NSX being slated for "next year" since 2009. The GT-5000 was on the drawing board...but it was a FR V10 Coupe...it was cancelled in '09. We have only been waiting for the current NSX since NAIAS 2012 and they said, at the time, that it would be released in about 3 years! 3 years is not very much time in the automotive world - Alfa is getting congratulated for only taking 2.5 years to make the Giulia...and the NSX we saw in 2012 had a transverse engine - all they've done since 2012 is completely overhaul the powertrain layout, redesign the car completely, build an entirely new factory in Ohio, create a brand new way of putting the car together and test it against the best in the world.

Now go away because you are being ridiculous and you don't know what you're talking about. The NSX is real, there will be test drives soon, and it's going to be fucking fantastic.

Did they tow it to a gas station as well?

https://twitter.com/mikeaccavitti/st...28549676355584

Did they stage this entire sequence on the highway?

The car is real and it really works and is being driven by real people around the country.

And did you not see the NSX debut at Detroit? Or read the SAE presentation? We know a lot about the NSX: $150K+, 550+ hp total system output with a twin-turbo 3.5L 75 degree dry sump V6 mated to a 9 Speed DCT/electric motor transmission and the front TMU, multi-material body with Aluminum, Ultra High Strength Steel and CF.

And aren't you looking at pictures right now?
Boy, his posts went right over your head didnt they. He was being sarcastic.

Oh, And just because its driving doesnt make it real, give me the body and i could drop in a 1.6l civic engine in it and say hey look, its driving.

And this doesnt tell us $hit. Woah... Hold the press, 150k+ price tag, 550+ hp... Sorry, that is just babble by them. Anyone could say that about the car they are coming out with. Its MEANINGLESS. ACTUAL #'s are meaningful and tell us a lot about the car. Just to add insult to it, they once showed us a car running around the ring stating similar HP #'s from a V10 but scrapped it before it actually hit the streets

^fsttyms1, how many times did you mock up your engine before you finally decide to bolt every thing in?

You mean before it was the real thing??? 10-12 times at least.

Should have seen how many times i mocked up things for the body work before it was real.

10-12 times that he placed the engine inside the engine bay to see if everything fits and clears and etc.
sorry, iutodd.....a mock up doesnt mean it's real and breathing fire

p.s. the Pikes Peak climb was a promotional stunt and not a production NSX, so you cant claim that's real either.

Two things I found about this cross country tour:

1. The engine bay is completely covered, so no one could see a thing outside.

2. Zero videos showing these two cars in motion.

Cool, so they completely changed the supposedly teased engine again because what was there before didn't work/fit/whatever. Gosh darn it, maybe they should have thought of that before doing a revolutionary change to the drivetrain on a production car!

A mockup means nothing. That's the actual definition of mockup.

HP numbers is just one main factor. Weight and gearing are 2 others, look at an Ariel Atom. A Ferrari 458 has ~560hp so "more than 550hp" is fine even today. The 458 starts at over $200k.

And a Dodge is still just a Dodge (with an outdated OHV engine).

We have to wait and see how the new NSX performs, but Acura isn't going after 458 Specialles or 488's or Aventadors, it's going after cars more like the Audi R8, a more rounded / civilized sports car, not a track focused sports car.

Two problems with this reasoning: 1) Acura specifically stated they benchmarked the 458; and 2), the 458 is no longer being made; it's out dated.

Acura's big shining comment was that it was going to compete with the 458 at the price of the R8.

Welp, it's not going to compete with either since the 458 is no longer in production and the R8 just got a lot faster.

Also, I was being half sarcastic. Glad I can stir up the pot some.

Not only are you a liar (there was zero sarcasm in your original post), you confess to intentionally creating controversy.
