The same thread was posted a while back: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...9&page=1&pp=40

But, to contribute to this thread, I've put in $8.2K so far in my ride, not counting all labor charges, of course.

Bought the car on June 7, 08.

Since then, I've spent ~$2600 on parts... by the end of the summer... ~$3300.

what sucks is... when the time comes to sell the car... or trade in... dealerships either won't give a rats ass or even worst... won't want it at all because of all the aftermarket stuff... some dealerships or buyers actually frawn on it... which is why keeping all the stock parts is ideal so you can have a part out sale, and bring the car back to stock

I've removed the intake resonator on the '02 RL. Sounds quite mean when you do WOT. Otherwise its a quiet motor, best of both worlds.

probably a few thousand (like 4-5K) for parts and random labor on my TSX. the more-major stuff would be--

intake
pulleys
coilovers
rear sway bar
throttle body spacer/gaskets
camber kit
euro-r body kit
mugen grille
ceramic tints

then random stuff like oil/radiator caps, lip spoiler, 6k HID bulbs, xenon fog bulbs, random LED bulbs.

modding is so addicting. the good feeling over a newly installed mod hasn't even run its cycle and i want to do something new.

i'm finding that i have issues when i just buy parts for future install (IM heatshield gaskets, strut bar, grounding kit).

my wife hates this addiction. no surprises there.

Gotten older? You're still young!

I spent way too much on my TL-S. My friend who bought the car is reaping the rewards of a diminishing asset.

Current car: $200 on tint. Probably $1.2k for winter tire/rim package, but that's not a mod but a necessity for a RWD car with stock 19" summer tires in Canada. I'd like to get some 19" or 20" Volks but I can't justify storing so many sets of rims in the garage (I'm like is300eater and keep all the stock parts in case I have to sell the car ahead of schedule ...)

$0 spend on modifying my AV6. IF I decided to buyout the lease (and I see a substantial increase in my disposable income), then that may change.

I live my modding life vicariously through my son and his Altima 3.5SE.

I'm getting annoyed with modding. More crap I buy the more issues I have with the car.

I dont plan to mod a daily driver for that reason ever again!

If I wasnt a distributor at the time I had my Accord, I wouldve paid about $15k for parts.
I had repeats of just about every part. I changed from chinese SRI to Injen SRI to AEM CAI. I went from chinese springs to H&R coilovers to Apex Coilovers.
chinese projector --> black chinese projectors
chinese altezza ---> gunmetal chinese altezza --> back to stock
probably chinese muffler --> tanabe exhaust --> greddy catback
Racing hart C5 (only part I didnt change)
3 different chinese indiglo gauges
streetfyghter2 front---> R34 front ---> stock
etc...

So far on my V: $300 for a navi/DVD bypass. This allows me to view DVD movies while driving. It's very valuable for my little guy in the back seat.

Just under $9k on the CL since August '08.

Just under $10k on the Civic since June '08 and still rising.

About $4k in parts for the motorcycle since Feb '08 and thinking about selling.

It would have been much more if I didn't do all the work myself.

Hey fireguy good to see you around again, on a better note... hopefully?

Anyway I really can't believe spending thousands upon thousands of dollars modding. Wouldn't you rather just upgrade the car make/model ? Call me crazy, but I'd rather be driving around in a 50k car than a old used car modded out....

But to quote the man from OH I O.. To each his own!

Most of the time 25k car with 25k in mods would rape the ever living shit out of a 50k car from a few angles if that makes sense.

A big part of being a "car guy" is modifying it. I'd love to have something like a CTS-V or M5, but a $900+ a month car payment wouldn't allow someone like myself to do that.

It's also fun taking a 16 second car and having it run 12's.
