I do it all, depending. I do like the Pull-Thru when available. Rarely ever parallel park, because there's hardly any street parking out here in the burbs.

When it's a crowded lot I always try to get next to 4 doors, don't need some ditzy chick in a Sunfire coupe whackin my car with her giant door while she's tryin to text

I usually park pointed forward, whether I back in or pull thru. But I still usually park waaaay far away, so I don't get door dings.

Whenever I see people parked in two spots I definitely back in and squeeze them on one side as much as possible... sometimes coming within inches. Especially if I happen to be out in the beater (1991 Chevy "Silverado")... b/c I don't care what happens to that thing.

^ I typically don't do it if someone is parked away from everyone. Only if they are in the middle of the parking area and they feel they need to take up 2 spots.

However, in the past I have done it once or twice where I mess with someone parking at the end thinking they're cool. Doesn't matter where you think my beater belongs... if I feel like squeezing next to you at the end of the row, that's where it will be! Although to be honest I don't squeeze too close when I do that... I just park near them to show them my beater is as cool as their car!

I wouldn't feel bad if a shopping car hit a car taking up two spots.

I once saw a car taking up six spots at a shopping center once. After he came out and saw five cars parked blocking him in, I think he got the message.

I wouldn't personally run a shopping cart into the dick that took up two spots. There have been several instances when either a car rolled away from the corral or someone inadvertently hit a car. While I usually make sure a note is left or the like I would probably just continue on my way.

Depends on the situation and which car I'm driving. My DD is a 4Runner and I park in parking garages so I usually try to back it in whenever I can, but sometimes it's so tight I just have to pull in frontways. The ack I always park away from other cars and usually back it in for the look But when I'm just out driving the 4Runner around at stores and such I just pull straight in.

The mall where my daughter works gives out tickets ($75.00) for taking up more than one parking space. (especially around the holidays)

Thats gotta be one slow mall ur daughter works in.....around the holidays i dont find even 1 spot in the mall....leave alone 2....but then i have a hookup with the security guards (being smooth helps ) so i do get a really nice spot and i dont have to work about door dings.....

what pisses me off as well is when i see big trucks (lots of them here in tx) and big SUVs parked in the compact spaces.

i don't park in the compact spaces, but it annoys me when i see these big trucks and SUVs parked there and as a result, actual compacts can't park next to them.

I back in everywhere except at the grocery store or mall. It is easier to get out that way. At the grocery, it's easier to park straight in because it's easier to load up the trunk that way.

I always look for "standard" spaces to park my vehicles, even if they can fit in the "compact" spaces.

And yes, I just pull head-in when the spaces are angled, back in if the spaces are perpendicular to the lane or pull straight through if the abutting space is empty.

actually it is a very busy mall-I am talking about the people who arrive at the mall before it opens and take up more than one space. Ticket time. It is the Freehold Raceway Mall in Freehold, NJ.

Straight in when in a car and back in when in a truck (easier to get out).

I voted "backed in"... but a close 2nd would be "depends on the situation".

When I'm in Vancouver, I back in EVERYWHERE I go... simple because the spaces are usually really tight, and in most places I go, there are a lot of people walking around... by backing in, when I'm leaving, it's just more ease of mind to be able to see pedestrians better.

Almost always back in, including the garage (camera helps). The only time I don't on a regular basis is when I know I'll need to load something in the trunk (or hatch on the MDX).

Not my reason but backing in is also safer as you can first see what's in the spot before pulling in as well as pull out forward where visibility is better. This is why you see phone company, FedEx, UPS, etc. truck almsos always backing into driveways and parking spaces.

If there is a parellel spot available, I'll take that. Least chance for other 's hitting your car.

Otherwise it just depends. At my apartment, I back in. At school/stores...I'll usually just pull in front...although I'll sometimes pull through to the next space so it's facing the same as if I "backed in".

I try to get a side spot at work - either next to a wall or next to a beam in the garage and I back in a little sideways to get away from people's freaking doors.

* Hitting an important part of your car. I've given up on having good looking bumper covers when I go into SF. Getting tapped is pretty much an accepted way of getting and out of parking spots.

I reverse into spots, its much easier to get in utilizing the side mirrors to gauge distance between the objects on your sides. I have a hard time pulling in to spots, sometimes, but I can reverse into them just fine.

Also its very easy get out.

That isn't anything like the god awful idea that was posted in the 3g forum is it? And my bumpers are already so fucked up I don't care. Actually makes parking easier

The latest trend with the tards here at work is parking backwards...on an angled aisle.

So you either have to make a three-point turn to get out, or you fly down the aisle going the wrong way.
