Question Honda's string of recalls to tarnish maker’s quality reputation?

What's your opinion on this story from Yahoo.com News?

http://autos.yahoo.com/news/honda-s-...putation-.html

Here's a snippet...
It was a busy week for Honda, the maker announcing three separate recalls impacting 1.7 million vehicles – even as federal safety regulators revealed a new investigation that could eventually lead to the recall of yet another 600,000 Honda minivans and SUVs.

The latest developments put Honda firmly on track towards repeating last year’s dubious achievement as the maker to recall the most vehicles in the U.S. market. Of a total 15.5 million vehicles recalled in 2011, 3.8 million of them carried badges for Honda or its luxury brand Acura. This past week’s recalls alone accounted for nearly 45% of last year’s total.

I don't think so ... only reinforces their name in my opinion.

It's when a company doesn't address an issue ... Mazda I'm looking at you (RX-8).

Every automobile manufacturer could surpass one another with recalls ... if they wanted. Should be looked at as a positive, especially voluntary ones.

doubt it. look at toyota. they did all those recalls however many yrs ago...and people are still buying them for their overall reputation.

sure they'll lose a few buyers, but i think honda has plenty of loyal buyers that wouldn't bat an eye about the recalls. better to catch the issue now then wait until someone gets hurt by not addressing it at all.

I don't think it will hurt them.

sounds like something similar to the CRV recall.

Honda quality is still good, but they are no longer the top of the heap "bullet-proof" reliability that they once were.

They are on par with the rest of the makes.

They survived the transmission fiasco of the early 2000s they will survive this.

Exactatacly! nail on the head.

I've heard people bitching here in Oregon about how the rain falls right into those Honda switches. I'm not surprised about the recall.

But you can bet that if this wasn't an election year, Chris Hansen would be pouring a cup of coffee into an armrest trying to get a fucking spark. God I hate that SOB >-(

Automobiles, in general, have become so incredibly complex. It's a wonder there isn't a recall every day.

No effect, with the exception of the early 2000's transmission fiasco Honda (and Toyota) are still way above other car makers in terms of reliability and quality. The others have gotten better but Honda still rules.
