Honda S2000 with Acura TL's 3.7L V6
http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...ls-37l-v6.html
"Here's a Honda S2000 that should have been built before Honda killed its open-top sportscar: Instead of a maniacally revving 2.2-liter, this S2000CR, recently modified by Honda Performance Development (HPD), has the 3.7-liter V6 from the Acura TL SH-AWD.
We expect the S2000 chassis is plenty robust enough to handle the bigger engine, since it's already proven able to cope with a V10. A cut-and-shut Honda S2000 chassis was used as a mule during development of the second-generation Acura NSX."
Am I dreaming or what?!!!!

Whoa.
BLASPHEMY!
But anyway. Can you say "low-end torque"? Hey, no more motoring around town with the engine spinning at 4k rpm.

Welcome to Olliewood
i agree with the posts already stated, theres no reason to "buy this" because Honda has no interest in producing it, no interest in actually tuning it to fit the characteristics of the chassis, and no interest to use this this as a motive for a future "sports model"..all this being said, i wuldnt purchase an Acura/Honda that uses a "Sports Sedan" title, because they have no "sports car" in their entire lineup that they havent killed off

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
You know, they could have put the J25 in there (I had one in my Saber, a small V6). maybe less weight, make it RWD, and tweaked it up to respectable HP, 275 - 295 maybe.
But I like the thought.

I see what you mean with the smaller V-6, maybe a little less torque but higher revving. Does a smaller J-series with the same block and heads way any less though?

Pretty cool project but I'm not wowed by the look of it.
Everybody know it's a freakin' Honda S2000, lets take off the windshield decal please

That would be really fun to drive, wonder how the weight distribution is, although they mounted the J37 pretty far back. Not as tight a fit as I thought it's be.

Well, am going to be driving a Nissan next month then..sounds bad..lol
BTW, doesn't HPD stand for Honda Performance Development?
I googled them and I found this:
BACKGROUND: Honda Performance Development, Inc. (HPD) is Honda's racing company within North America and is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Founded in 1993, HPD is the technical operations center for Honda's and Acura's high-performance racing programs. HPD is the single engine supplier to the IndyCar® Series and competes in prototype sports car racing under the Acura banner in the American Le Mans® Series.
This is a Honda project technically..so, there is still hope..

Nissan's are great cars and the 370z in particular is brilliant, I don't think anyone on this forum is going to give you shit for buying the car you want because Honda doesn't make anything to compete with it. Even if this car was to go into production it would take years until it was available, I just don't see it happening or being worth waiting and hoping it becomes a reality.

its nice but, i bought an s2000 because:
-i like to hear the engine screaming to 8k
-50/50 balance
-light weight
-fun rwd
either way the, power and torque would be nice. then again, id prob just boost it for the same price and have a pavement shreding monster.

The J37 isn't all that much heavier nor is an LSx swap.

the J37 in the SH-AWD TL is pretty light and compact motor for what it is, Silicon liners, etc.
It's great to see they put in a nice motor in the S2000, but I think a NSX C32B modified by honda would have been a much better swap and as well would stick with the True Honda Heritage.
