Homelink on an old garage

Sorry, wasn't sure where to put this.

Would love to use a garage for once. Have a REAL old system. Is there any way to modify (low price and easy) without replacing the opener?

It currently has an ancient (not operating) Telectron yellow box w/ fixed radio frequency and the oldest clicker you've ever seen.

Just guessing it will cost about half the cost of a new opener to repair that one. Call a garage door place to confirm.

You can buy a new opener with warranty for a little over $100. Don't fix something so old it might break again. My .

This. Just buy a new opener for $100-150 and call it a day. It'll have rolling code, two clickers, and a key fob. Repairing the old one will probably cost as much.

Thanks all. Are these things an easy DIY swap? Do all new doors work with homelink?

The fact you have all of the braces in place will save you time. I put one up a month ago. Half of the time was assembly, half was putting up support braces. The instructions are included. DIY and feel smug you didn't pay Lowes $99 to do it.

Everything should work with Homelink. Even you old one would have worked since it has a remote.
