At least with Chavez, they can get around with cheap gas and have some redistribution of funds to the poorest people. I do not want to belabor this into an R&P discustion but, those who think lightly of communism (and the champions thereof) are typically those who have not had the misfortune of living under such a system. I happen to believe that the U.S. Democracy is THE BEST system in which the underclass may be empowered to progress from that demographic. (There are a plethora of success stories that substantiate this.)

Whether or not an outsider to the US Presidential Election process can differentiate between our system and that of a military coup manufactured presidency is inconsequential.

Pete Schweizer's book Reagan's War provides the needed perspective with regard to this form of governing and it's tragic denouement.

I filled up for $30.80! That was a 14 gallon fill up btw! But the way I see it, I fill up twice a month so even the $40 wasn't really a killer...

I almost don't know how to respond to someone commenting that maybe communism is not such a bad thing. It boggles the mind to hear something like this when the history of the last century contains the murders of over 100 million people by their communist governments. While all governments are inherently evil, those which are communist or socialist or any other form of totalitarian order are the worse of the lot.. with communism at the top of the heap of evil depotism. The very thought that private property is not favored, that receiving your just rewards for your hard work must be shared with those who do not measure up, that you have little freedom (try speaking out against a communist regime or carrying a gun), is and should be repugnant to anyone. In fact the only good communist is the one that lies on the ground and doesn't breathe.

Gentlemen, I'm sorry for my little rant there, but I hope my American countrymen understand my position.

As for gas prices, in my area, they have gone below $2.00 several times over the last few weeks at some stations.. for regular. I use Amoco 93 and it has been running around $2.21 to $2.24 a gallon. On Thursdays, the BP station I use has "cents off" (7 cents) for their 93 fuel.
