HIDs and non-luxury brands
It seems every non-luxury car I see with HIDs is a Nissan. Maxima, Altima and/or Murano...
Who else out there with a non-luxury name is pushing these things in cars... Maybe a couple of Chryslers... A VW or two?
Certainly not GM, Ford, Honda or Toyota...

Doesn't the Sienna have them as an option? Mazda 3 as an option?

HIDs will become standard fare eventually. Most likely luxury cars will then differentiate by going to LED headlights, or at least having a combination of the two. Right now Audi has it in the W12 A8, but only as daytime running lights.

HID is not a luxury feature anyway, more of a safety feature.....It might've been considered a luxury feature when it was costing $1000+ a set....but not anymore and especially the techonology has been around and is nothing new, it'll be cheaper and cheaper and more common, and it's common sense....
Further, the cars in the US market tend to be slower with technology gadgets anyways.... for example, in markets outside of the US, a 98 (or was it 2000) integra R had HID's.... a 92-95 EG civic had auto climate control (how many year did it take the US accord to offer this? like not until 98??).... a 99 civic R had navigation.... a 99 E class had distance sensor all around the car that works even when driving (not just backup park distance), a new JDM Accord (TSX body) has front side and back camera option, and of course HIDs... just to name a familiar few.

as far as I'm concerned, HID's are no longer an indication of "luxury" or "prestige" or "wealth" or whatever... and there is consequently no need to limit them to such. HID's are a safety feature, they let you see more - and that is the path they are going to take in the future.
LED headlights... now that is some prestige there. I only know of one car that has em, the latest Infiniti Q45. Are there any others?

Those aren't LED's. They are HID's but just have 7 lenses to focus the beam.
But the RDX concept had LED headlights, which probably won't make it to production.
